Why is Oliver looking more pink in color in Invincible Season 4? Here is all you need to know

Invincible Season 4 premiered on Prime Video on March 18, and has released six episodes already. While the season focuses on the Viltrumite War, it also focuses on the relationships between Oliver and Nolan, Debbie and Nolan, and Mark’s internal conflicts. Among all this, viewers might have noticed that Oliver, Nolan’s younger son, is now looking more pink than purple in Invincible Season 4.

When Oliver was first introduced in Season 2 as a baby, and at that point, he was purple in color since he is half-Thraxan. But over time, he has begun to appear more pink, which hasn’t been addressed in the show directly. Here’s why Oliver’s skin colour has been changing in Invincible Season 4.

Why Oliver’s skin colour is becoming pink in Invincible Season 4

In Invincible Season 4, we see that Oliver Grayson looks noticeably less purple and more pink. Earlier, he appeared more purple, but now he has a softer pink complexion, which is almost as light as human skin-tone. This change is due to his unique parentage and how his body is developing over over time. Oliver’s parents belong to two very different species. His mother, Andressa, was a Thraxan, a race known for their blue-colored bodies and extremely fast growth. His father, Nolan Grayson, is a Viltrumite, a powerful alien species that closely resembles humans and are red blooded.

When Oliver was younger, these traits combined to give him a purple skin tone, blending both sides of his parentage. As he grows older, this balance begins to shift. Viltrumite DNA is naturally dominant and tends to take over other genetics if the person has the generics of other species as well. In Oliver’s case, his father’s genes is gradually taking control, and reducing the influence of his mother’s Thraxan side. This is why his purple skin fades and becomes more pink, reflecting his increasing similarity to a Viltrumite, who have skin tone like that of humans.

His rapid development also plays a role in this. Oliver’s Thraxan genetics caused him to grow quickly at a young age, but as his Viltrumite side is strengthening, his aging is slowing down and his body stabilizes. Along with this, his physical features are beginning to align more with Viltrumite traits as well. This change in his skin tone may also be due to changes in his blood composition, or simply due to the natural dominance of Viltrumite biology which is changing his body over time.
