Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

The revealation of Holden Novak’s (Nathan Owens) parternity continues to reverbarate throughout Genoa City on The Young and the Restless. The show’s taken the opportunity with Lily (Christel Khalil) having angst over not being able top help her father, Malcolm (Shemar Moore), having a blood disorder, to revist Lily’s friendship with Traci (Beth Maitland). As viewers know, Traci’s late daughter Colleen was best pals with Lily. Just as Traci lost her daughter in a tragic accident, Lily lost her mother, Dru (Victoria Rowell), after she plunged presumably to her death off a cliff. Lily needs a mom, and Traci has a void in her life because Colleen isn’t here anymore. It’s always heartwarming to see these two interact given their history and special connection. It’s also been a delight to see Vivica A. Fox step back into her role as Dr. Stephanie Simmons after a 30+ year absence. The story of Malcolm’s illness and him being Holden’s dad has been told at a breakneck pace, and Fox has carried a big share of the story deciminating not only the personal backstory and why Stephanie made the decisions she did, but she also conveyed a lot of medical jargon that’s been key to this emotional tale. Genoa City could use the continued presence of both Traci and Dr. Stephanie. All soaps need a caring matriarchal figure as well as a doctor. With Traci and Stephanie, the show has both. We’re looking forward to seeing Traci square off against Patty (Stacy Haiduk), the woman responsible for Colleen’s death. And if Fox can make time to return to Y&R for medical storylines and to square off against Audra Charles (Zulekya Silver), we’re all for it!
