Harry Potter TV series has finally revealed the first look at the most powerful wand in the Wizarding World

We’ve just gotten our first glimpse at one of the most important things in the Harry Potter universe, something that ultimately becomes one of the biggest plot points and wages wars through generations and folklore. We’re talking, of course about Albus Dumbledore’s wand: the Elder wand.

For anyone who doesn’t know, the Elder wand is the mot powerful wand in the world of magic, and is one of the three Deathly Hallows; i.e. one of the three ways the Peverell brothers defied their deaths. Over years it changes owners, spans through stories and wizards, and ultimately belongs to Dumbledore as he wins it in a duel with Gellert Grindelwald. After that, the wand stays with him till his death, after which Voldemort starts seeking it to destroy Harry Potter.

The first look came from HBO’s documentary Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic, which is focusing on the making of the Harry Potter TV series. In the shot, we can see John Lithgow’s Dumbledore sitting at what looks like a pub or his office in Hogwarts, reading a book, and there on the table next to him is the Elder Wand.

It’s an important detail as the documentary is giving us these glimpses of the production design and craftsmanship that’s going into this series and the wand reveal matters because of everything that happens with it later in the story. It becomes one of the most important plot twists and plot points in the series and the wand allegiance issue becomes pretty crucial to how everything wraps up.

Everything we know about HBO’s Harry Potter

The show is being led by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, who won the role after auditioning 40,000 kids. Arabella Stanton’s Hermione and Alastair Stout’s Ron completed the trio after a massive casting search across the UK and Ireland, and the new Golden Trio has been getting all the love from fans. As for the adults, we have John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Nick Frost as Hagrid. Warwick Davis is also reprising Professor Flitwick from the films.
