Welcome to The Young and the Restless Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Not that long ago, we wrote about The Young and the Restless employing the ladies’ lounge at the Genoa City Athletic Club so that Nikki Reed Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) could have a showdown in true soap opera style. It turns out that the bar at the GCAC works just as well. That’s where Phyllis continued to enjoy her reign as the top business person in town. Then, Lily came in. She tried to shush Phyllis away, but Phyllis couldn’t stop reveling in her successes. Phyllis is great with one-liners and comebacks. Lily, in turn, gave as good as she got. The two women sparred back and forth, making digs at each other, exposing their vulnerabilities. If we were there at the bar with them, we would have grabbed a bowl of peanuts, ordered a drink, and watched the show with delight. Things got even better when Victoria (Amelia Heinle) walked into the club and joined the two women at the bar. Well, she actually joined Lily, taking her side. These are three different women, but what they have in common is a love of family. We saw the normally triumphant Phyllis wince a bit when Vicki pointed out that Summer wasn’t speaking to her mom anymore. We kind of wonder who is getting work done at Winters, Inc., and Summers Conglomorate when Lily and Phyllis have so much time to trade barbs with one another in what appears to be the middle of the day. But who cares? Watching these three go at it is a midday break that we can’t get enough of!
