Phil Mickelson will no longer be competing in the 2026 Masters Tournament.

On Thursday (April 2), the 55-year-old pro golfer announced in a statement that he is withdrawing from the big tournament due to a “personal health matter” going on in his family.

Keep reading to find out more…“Unfortunately, I will not play in the Masters Tournament next week and will be out for an extended period of time as my family continues to navigate a personal health matter,” Mickelson wrote on Instagram. “I have great respect for Augusta National Golf Club and it is definitely the most special week of the year.”

“I wish everyone the best of luck and will be watching,” he concluded.

If you didn’t know, Mickelson has won the Masters three times in his career, with victories in 2004, 2006, and 2010.

Mickelson‘s withdrawal from the 2026 Masters comes just two days after Tiger Woods also pulled out of the prestigious golf tournament after he was charged with DUI following a rollover car crash in Florida.

This marks the first since 1994 that Mickelson and Woods, a five-time Masters champ, both missed the first major of the season at the Augusta National Golf Club.

The 2026 Masters Tournament runs from April 9 through April 11 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
