The Golden Globe Award-winning actor-turned-film director, Johnny Depp, and members of his rock band Hollywood Vampires, are being sued by a concert promoter over a canceled show in Slovakia in July 2023, as per the Daily Mail.
The 62-year-old Johnny Depp, who, besides being an A-list actor, is also a musician and is part of the band Hollywood Vampires. Apart from Depp, the band also comprises two other members, rock legend Alice Cooper and guitarist Joe Perry, who is one of the founding members of Aerosmith.
As cited by the Daily Mail and reviewed by TMZ, the court documents of the concert promoter stated that the concert was officially supposed to be held in Slovakia’s Olympic Fields. However, amid the lawsuit filed against the Hollywood Vampires by the concert promoter, who is originally from Slovakia, the rock band’s lawyer has requested the Texas federal court to dismiss the case.
As per the Daily Mail, the promoter reportedly stated that Johnny Depp’s rock band was paid $227,000 in advance to perform at the show, and revealed that when asked to return the money, there was no response from the band. While the promoter reportedly claimed that the band unexpectedly canceled the show, the band’s lawyers are requesting the court to dismiss the case, citing a lack of personal jurisdiction.
A source close to Depp informed the Daily Mail that:
“The case was essentially about “a two-and-a-half-year-old matter concerning safety at the venue.”
While another source informed the Daily Mail regarding the lawsuit that:
“The venue was unsafe, it was a collective decision to cancel the show that evening due to those reasons. All stemming from over two years ago.”
However, the concert promoter in the court documents stated that the reason behind Johnny Depp’s band canceling the show had nothing to do with the venue but was due to personal reasons. The promoter also claimed that he lost money after the show was cancelled and that his reputation in the industry was affected.

At the time of the Slovakia concert in 2023, Depp’s band, the Hollywood Vampires, released a statement on Instagram regarding the show’s cancellation. The statement read:
“Upon arrival today to the venue in Slovakia to begin set up for tonight’s performance, it quickly became clear that the construction of the facility was incomplete, and therefore unsafe for both the band and the general public.”
The statement further added:
“The band is very upset by this recent and unfortunate turn of events, and hope to return when schedules permit.”
There have been no comments yet from representatives of Johnny Depp and other members of the Hollywood Vampires.
