The Testaments credits series star Chase Infiniti for having same qualities as Elisabeth Moss that helped her getting cast in the show

Hulu’s The Testaments has just premiered, and the show found its breakthrough star in Chase Infiniti. However, showrunner Bruce Miller cast her largely because she reminded him of Elisabeth Moss in a very specific way, and that quality might be exactly what this revolution needs.

Set four years after The Handmaid’s Tale ended, the show follows two young women, Infiniti’s Agnes and Lucy Halliday’s Daisy, coming of age inside Gilead. Miller returns as showrunner, and at the world premiere at the Academy Museum on Tuesday, he explained what drew him to Infiniti for the lead role.

Talking about the actress on The Testaments, Miller stated,

“She was unpredictable. I didn’t know what she was going to do — not in a scary way, but I just didn’t have any idea what she was going to say, if she was going to go left or right. And as a person, she’s that way too. She’s delightful, but you don’t know if she’s going to say if she wants chocolate or vanilla ice cream, and no matter how much I get to know her, I don’t think I’m going to know, which is wonderful. It was the same thing with Elisabeth Moss; she’s not volatile, but she is unpredictable.”

For Infiniti, landing this role comes right after her star-making turn in One Battle After Another, and she’s been clear about what that experience taught her. She talked about how the film really prepared her for getting to work with an incredible group of girls and that she feels very fortunate that it taught her how to work in an ensemble and form connections with other actors.

More details about The Testaments
