HBO Max’s The Pitt heads to big screen as Season 2 finale gets a theatrical premiere at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

The Pitt, R. Scott Gemmill’s breakout Emmy-winning medical series, has secured a rare theatrical release for its Season 2 finale on April 13, three days before it officially releases on HBO Max on April 16.

Warner Bros. Television and HBO Max have teamed up with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to arrange free advance screenings of The Pitt Season 2 finale for healthcare professionals as a small token of their earnest dedication to the medical community.

The Noah Wyle-starring medical series has been consistent in its realistic portrayal of healthcare workers, addressing the psychological challenges faced in a post-pandemic world.

The sophomore season of the medical series that began in January 2026 is just two episodes away from its finale. To honour the medical community, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is hosting free Victory screenings of the Season 2 finale in more than ten different cities across the USA.

More details on The Pitt

The sophomore season of the breakout medical series marks the return of Wyle’s troubled Dr. Robby, who has decided to take a sabbatical. The second season follows the medical staff at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency room as they undergo a harrowing 15-hour shift during the 4th of July weekend.

In addition to Wyle, the returning cast for Season 2 includes Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon, Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, and Shawn Hatosy as Dr. Jack Abbot.

The Pitt Season 2 has also introduced Sepideh Moafi’s recurring character, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, who has arrived as Robby’s interim replacement. Many believe Wyle’s Dr. Robby might not return after his sabbatical, but the medical series has already been greenlit for a third season on HBO Max, with the writing process already underway.

The medical drama procedural won five Emmys for its first season, including Outstanding Drama Series and acting wins, for Hatosy, Wyle and LaNasa. Additionally, the medical series proved to be a breakout hit in Noah Wyle’s career, earning him a Golden Globe, Emmy, and Critics’ Choice Awards. In addition to playing the central Dr. Robby, Wyle also serves as an executive producer on the series.

The Pitt Season 2 finale will be released on HBO Max on April 16 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has urged early watchers not to disclose the finale’s plot points until its official release, to preserve the experience of fellow fans.
