Days of our Lives’ Rafe and Jada have not had any real storylines of their own recently and it doesn’t look like their situation will change any time soon, as Galen Gering and Elia Cantu have been dropped to recurring status.
Days of our Lives stars make a change
DAYS expert Jason47, who runs the Jason 47 Days of our Lives Facebook page, noted the change after the March 30th closing credits. Cantu and Gering were listed in the recurring player section for the first time, rather than the section where contract players are credited.
However, that does not mean we won’t still see them. A spokesperson for the soap confirmed to Soap Opera Digest that Rafe and Jada are both still a large part of the Salem scene, even 10 months from now, when the episodes currently being filmed air.
Gering and Cantu are not the only big stars who work on a recurring basis. Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis), Judi Evans (Bonnie Kiriakis), Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera/Susan Banks), Casey Moss (JJ Deveraux), and Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady) are also recurring players. Kurth has the same status at General Hospital, where he plays Ned Quartermaine.
Where do Rafe and Jada go from here?
A year ago, “Rafe” and Jada were planning their wedding, but Jada didn’t know she was planning the nuptials with an imposter, Arnold Feneger. When Rafe was finally rescued, things were never the same again between the pair. Jada ended up sleeping with Shawn Brady and Rafe ended up back in bed with his ex-wife, Sami.
Since then, Rafe has not done much except sit around his little FBI office with Cat Green (AnnaLynne McCord) as they look for evidence to take down EJ DiMera (Daniel Feuerreigel). As for Jada, she has been on a few dating app dates and keeps arresting the wrong people, but she has had no major story of her own.
Gering joined the DAYS cast in 2008 as FBI agent Rafe Hernandez, after several years on the now-defunct NBC soap Passions, where he played Luis Lopez Fitzegerald. Cantu began playing Jada Hunter in 2022, when her love interest was Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan). Jada is the daughter of Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nichols) childhood best friend, Marcus Hunter (Richard Biggs). Only time will tell what the future brings Rafe and Jada.
