The Boys star Jensen Ackles gives a crucial update on the future of Vought Rising series

The Boys Season 5 is soon going to premium on Prime Video on April 8, 2026 with the first two episodes, but a spin-off of the show, Vought Rising starring Jensen Ackles is also on its way to Prime Video. Ackles is reprising his role as Soldier Boy in the upcoming spin-off which so far is expected to be set in the 1950s and follow the begining of the Vought corporations and the initial days of Compound V.

Prime Video hasn’t confirmed if the spin-off will have just one season, or multiple, but Jensen Ackles has given fans a hint about the spin-off’s future.

Jensen Ackles on the future of The Boys sequel Vought Rising

Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy is going to be one of the leading characters of Vought Rising, as the spin-off will show us his early days as a Supe as well. Ahead of the premiere of The Boys Season 5, Jensen Ackles was asked in an interview with ScreenRant if when the spin-off was first brought to him, whether the creators already intended on making multiple seasons or wanted to test with the first season first.

Jensen responded saying,

“No, I think the intent is to do multiple seasons. When they pitched it, they were like, “Hey, we’re thinking about doing this prequel thing, going back to the 1950s with Soldier Boy.” I don’t think I let them finish the sentence before I was like, “Yes!” But I know that the intent is to have it be a multi-season show.”

While Prime Video is yet to confirm Season 2 of the upcoming The Boys spin-off, if Season 1 performs well, there is a Season 2 or even more that we can expect. Speaking about what to expect from Vought Rising Ackles also said,

“Listen, it’s going to feel familiar, as far as the format of it all, because I think that’s taking what really works with The Boys and trying to do something a little bit different with it, certainly as a period piece in the 1950s. But I’ll speak personally. The Soldier Boy aspect of it is I’m used to playing and we’re used to seeing Soldier Boy in modern times, but he is a, I like to say, analog man in a digital world, so he’s a fish out of water with what we know of him now.

He continued,

“Now we’re getting to see him be relevant, getting to see him in his actual environment where he feels like this is where he belongs. He’s the top dog. But you also get to see the experience as to why he ended up the way he did. We get to kind of peel back the layers of what truly happened in that time.”

The Boys sequel, Vought Rising will star Jensen Ackles as Ben / Soldier Boy, Aya Cash as Klara Risinger / Stormfront, Mason Dye as Bombsight, Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, and Will Hochman as Torpedo. Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri, Brian J. Smith, and KiKi Layne are also going to star in undisclosed roles.

Vought Rising is created and executive produced by Eric Kripke. Paul Grellong is the showrunner and an executive producer. Other executive producers of the show are Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, Jensen Ackles, and Aya Cash. The production companies behind the show are Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, Original Film, Kickstart Entertainment, KFL Nightsky Productions, Amazon MGM Studios, and Sony Pictures Television.

Vought Rising is expected to premiere on Prime Video sometime in 2026. The Boys Season 5 will premiere on Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
