We may get another season of Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, after the shocking way that the first season has ended, as showrunner Haley Z. Boston is hinting on making a follow-up season. The breakout Netflix show garnered a high number of views and reviews, and although the first season ended without cliffhangers, Boston might have something else in her mind too.
Speaking to Variety, she has talked about what she thinks about making a second season as she said that she perceives the show as an anthology, and just like she used her personal fears to create the first season, she may do the same for the sophomore season. She stated,
“That would be a great opportunity. This story is very personal to me. It came from a real fear of mine, something I was using to explore my own fears. I’ve thought about the show as a potential anthology, and whatever that next existential fear is, I’d need to figure out what to explore there. Horror, to me, runs deep. It allows you to explore taboo subjects and externalize internal fears. I have a lot of fears, so I’m sure there’s more to mine.”
What makes this interesting is that Boston has already proven she understands how to take abstract psychological terror and make it visceral and specific. Whatever the next existential fear is, it won’t be generic and will hopefully be as good as this season.

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen is being perceived as one of the smartest things the platform has put out in a while. It came out March 26 and immediately landed in the top spots, and fans are hoping it continues to another season. Critically, it’s been well-received, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 82%.
The premise is pretty generic: Rachel and Nicky are getting married in a week, then something very bad happens. If that sounds simple, then you won’t be expecting what comes in it. The series was created by Boston, and is backed by Stranger Things’ Duffer Brothers. As for the cast, Camila Morrone carries the show as Rachel, and Adam DiMarco is as Nicky. The supporting cast includes Jennifer Jason Leigh as Nicky’s mother, Ted Levine as his father and Jeff Wilbusch as his brother.
