In Alex Warren’s recent performance at the Grammys, the artist faced technological malfunctions. He was nominated in the best new artist category at the 2026 Grammys. Additionally, he also performed his famous song “Ordinary” live at the award function.
However, during his performance, many fans noticed him removing and adjusting his in-ear monitor, which helps artists to hear the music and vocals clearly while performing on stage.
Despite it, Warren was able to carry out the complete performance and even got admiration from his fans, who showed support for the artist and his talent to not let his performance be ruined by the technical problems.
Speaking of the incident, Warren told People in a reported statement that after the incident at the Grammys, he:
“Truly thought my career was over.”
Alex Warren talks about his Grammy performance
Alex Warren talked about the difficulties he faced in his Grammy performance in his recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, hosted by Alex Cooper. He said:
“I’ve never talked about this. It was horrifying. It was horrifying. We had rehearsed it all week … it was perfect. To this day I don’t know exactly what happened.”
Speaking of the malfunctions, he added:
“They’re like, ’30 seconds,’ and I said, “I can’t hear anything. I can’t hear myself,” and the guy’s like, ‘It’s live TV, 25 seconds,’ and I go, ‘Guys, something’s wrong.’ Something gets blasted into left ear, and right ear I hear nothing, and I go, ‘Guys, I can’t hear”
Alex Warren added that in his head, he realized the difficulties were meant to happen, and he simply decided to move forward from there.
At one point, fans also saw Warren removing his earpiece and continuing to sing the song. Speaking of it, he told Cooper during the podcast that all he was able to hear during the performance was his own voice, and he decided to take out the piece on his right ear due to the echoing, which made the situation worse.
He continued:
“When we rehearsed it, they weren’t expecting 20,000 phones to be on, and everyone was filming, and so the RF cut it out, and then once I got to the stage, ’cause there’s two fins, I would assume, once we got to the stage, I got it back”
Alex Warren said he just wanted to get through it. The singer also posted a video on his Instagram after his performance with the caption:
“this would only happen to me…”
The video took no time to get the support from the fans and other artists who admired the singer for handling the situation without hampering his performance.
