The Madison star Beau Garrett reveals that Stacy might not be in Season 2 of the new Taylor Sheridan drama

The Madison on Paramount+ has received acclaim for its emotional twists, and now, another one might be in the offing.

Beau Garrett, who portrays Abigail, recently gave a subtle implication that the future of Stacy in the show is questionable. This possibility is a significant change since Stacy Clyburn, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, has been the central character of the story.

Following the shocking Season 1 finale of Taylor Sheridan’s newest drama, the viewers were looking forward to having more attention given to the story of Stacy as she moves through grief and healing. However, according to what Garrett said, The Madison Season 2 may take a different turn of events, maybe it would not have Stacy at all. In case that occurred, it would transform the emotional core of the series and drive the story in unexpected directions.

The Madison Season 1 finale and what Beau Garrett said

The Madison Season 1 finale does not provide any definite answers, though the story with Stacy remains open and unpredictable, and this is exactly the way Taylor Sheridan likes things. Stacy loses her husband Preston, and she is seen spending her time grieving and lost between New York and Montana. At the end, she appears to be dragged back to Montana, where audiences hope she can find some peace.

There is a moment when she abruptly disappears from the memorial, leading to panic in the end. She is later found sitting by the grave of Preston, with a gun in her hands. But what this means is not clear: the conclusion leaves one wondering: Is Stacy recovering and moving on, or is she slowly losing it? Is something more sinister coming?

The cast members themselves have noted that they are not always sure either what would occur next. That uncertainty leaves the future of Stacy in The Madison Season 2 uncertain, even non-existent. Beau Garrett, playing Stacy’s daughter Abigail, has not affirmed anything big, but you do wonder what she was talking about. Regarding the ending, she gave a hint that the story of Stacy may not go the way fans want it to. It might be a diminished role or even a total departure.

In a recent interview with TV Insider, Beau Garrett said,

“There is a part of Abigail that doesn’t trust that Stacy wants to be on this planet anymore. There’s a real instability in her mother that I think is very unnerving, and so, I don’t know that she thinks she’s OK. I don’t think Montana is where she went in her head when she realizes her mom’s gone.

If you’ve lost the person that is your soulmate, and you don’t feel like there’s any purpose to live anymore, I don’t know where you’d go, but she’s really scared that she’s not safe. She’s not herself.”

What this means for The Madison Season 2

Should Stacy’s character withdraw, or completely disappear in the future, The Madison Season 2 is going to feel quite different. Abigail and Paige can be the centre of the story as they struggle with relationships, loss, and becoming adults. The transition would feel natural as they have been developing their roles. The series might also take a closer look at life in Montana.

In Season 1, Stacy formed a connection with the land, but her absence may force others to discover a connection to it on their own. Michelle Pfeiffer, the actress who brought Stacy’s character to life, also stated in the interview with TV Insider:

“The family is fractured. How are they going to survive this as a family? How is Stacy going to survive her grief and the loss of the only man she has ever loved in her life? They’re so entangled together, as you’re still forming as a person. Where does one end and the other begin?”

Season 2 is already shot, and thus, we just have to wait and see what happens to Stacy. That’s what makes it exciting. We can only guess whether she comes back, burns out, or exits in a grand way, but this much is definite: The Madison is ready to take chances, and Season 2 might be even more erratic and unpredictable.
