The Hunting Wives star Malin Akerman makes bold claims for how fans will react to Season 2

Filming is now complete for The Hunting Wives Season 2, and fans are potentially looking at a late 2026 release for the much-awaited season. Ahead of this, one of the leading stars of the show, Malin Akerman, who plays the character of Margo Banks, revealed how fans would be shocked and surprised at every twist in the upcoming season.

The conviction in her statement stems from the fact that she had the same reaction every time she read a fresh script before filming, as was revealed by the star.

According to Malin Akerman, her “jaw was on the floor” during the filming of every episode. She says,

“Every episode. With every episode, you know the difference from the first season to the second is that in the first season, we knew all eight episodes upfront. This was episode by episode. So, we get the script the week before shooting it… So for us, it was equally as big of a surprise as it will be for the audience as we were shooting. To find out who’s messing around with who, who’s getting killed, who’s new, I mean, it was a lot of fun.”

According to Malin Akerman, the stars of the show were as engrossed in the story as she claims fans will be when the season is finally released later this year.

The Hunting Wives was renewed for Season 2 by Netflix back in September last year

The Hunting Wives is based on May Cobb’s mystery novel by the same name, that was released back in 2021. The first season of the show premiered back in July 2025, and became an instant hit among fans, compelling the streaming giant, Netflix, to renew the show for a second season in September itself.

While filming for the show reportedly began in November 2025, it completed earlier this month and the season has been slated for release in the second half of 2026.

The story follows Brittany Snow’s Sophie, who moves to a wealthy Texas enclave. There, she immediately becomes obsessed with Margo, who is the queen bee of a clique named The Hunting Wives.

However, shortly after, the story takes a dark turn, as Maple Brook is turned upside down by a crime taking place. The season, which comprised of eight episodes, ended on a wild cliffhanger, and fans are now eagerly awaiting the second season to get answers to their questions.

So far, we know that the season is slated for a late 2026 release, and will be spread over eight episodes, like the first season. Ahead of the release, if anybody wants to do a rerun of the first season, they can stream it on Netflix. The second season, too, will be released on Netflix itself.
