Actor Xavier Smalls, known for his role in the 2024 drama Beauty In Black, shared his thoughts about people going to h*ll for their sins during a live stream. In the video, reshared by the X account @dom_lucre on March 20, Smalls said that God loves his children, including those who are atheists, addicts, and the ones who live in sin. He mentioned:
“But he will send you to hell because when you die, there’s only two places, right? And if you live in sin on this earth, he’s so holy, he’s so grand, beyond our imagination.”
A user then asked:
“LGBTQ members are going to h*ll?
Xavier Smalls continued saying:
“Not because he doesn’t love you but because he’s so holy. He can’t dwell with unholy people and that goes for other sinners. Scoffers and mockers, liars, all things that are abomination. It’s not just the LGBTQ. It’s if you are drunk, like if you are an alcoholic, if you are murderer like, these are all sins that God doesn’t tolerate.”
Social media users reacted to his statements, with one X user writing:
“He’s right but whoever hasn’t sinned cast the first stone. He plays a stripper guys. I’m sure he’s very qualified to make a correct judgments. He’s right tho. Can’t be mad at that.”
Here’s how netizens reacted to Xavier Smalls’ statement
A section of social media users appeared critical of Xavier Smalls’ comments. One of them claimed that he should focus his energy on spreading positivity and not criticising people. The comment was:
“I wish Christians, especially like these ones, could focus their energy more on spreading positivity and good deeds instead of using their clout to chastise others.”
An X user said that some people might not agree, but they felt it didn’t make sense that someone like Jeffrey Dahmer could go to heaven after finding God, while a kind person who helped others but was gay could go to hell. They reacted:
“I’ll say this. Many won’t like it But if someone say like Jeffrey Dahmer can get into heaven (according to records he found God in prison) Then some man who lived a good life. Loved his neighbors. Helps. But was gay. And goes to hell? Nah. He’s not a good God. Not close.”
Criticising Xavier Smalls, a social media user mentioned:
“So he’s out here playing a gay stripper on Netflix but preaching no gays in heaven… bro really said ‘I’ll act it but I won’t live it’ Where do we draw the line between job & beliefs?”
Xavier Smalls talks about his character in Beauty In Black
In January 2026, Xavier Smalls sat down with Good Day Sacramento, where they discussed his role in Beauty In Black. He said playing the character of Angel was fun and challenging. Smalls added that with this character, he had to go through a different emotional range. He mentioned:
“I feel like there’s a little more layers and just the story is so chaotic with everything that’s going on. So, it’s just like as a storyteller, it’s just fun to be in that that world to showcase those sort of things.”
Xavier Smalls said that his upcoming short film, Double Stuff, is expected to be released this year.
