Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are returning to the director’s chair after more than a decade. Their last directorial venture was the 2014 comedy film 22 Jump Street. Lord spoke to IndieWire about returning to direction.
“I think we just really fell in love with Andy’s novel. And the idea of doing this with Ryan. There was something about this book, the spectacle of it, the problem-solving, the relationship at the center. The problem of making the audience fall in love with a rock with no eyes. They all felt like the kind of problems that would be fun to spend five years solving.”
Project Hail Mary was released on March 20, 2026.
