“yes i can?”- Sabrina Carpenter claps back at viral SUV comment amid ‘Manchild’ Lollapalooza performance backlash

Sabrina Carpenter recently performed at the Lollapalooza festival in Argentina at the Flow Stage on March 15, 2026. During a section of that performance where she sang Manchild, she had the audience do the pre-chorus with her, which included her having the audience call men ‘useless’.

This performance has since generated backlash on social media. One of the critics on the internet goes by the username uncledoomer on X, with the profile name doomer. The user called out the singer by pointing out her height and claiming that she could not climb into an SUV on her own:

“women are always like “men are useless” but sabrina carpenter is like 4 foot 11, she cant even climb into a mid size SUV without help.”

Now Sabrina Carpenter has clapped back at the comment in a reply from her official X page, stating:

“yes i can ?”

While Carpenter has responded to one comment, the backlash against her Lollapalooza performance has been ongoing. The backlash included comments claiming that there has been a war on masculinity since the 1980s and that Carpenter’s entire career is built around her hating men. Some also described her Lollapalooza moment as an instance of misandry.

There’s been a war on Masculinity since the 90’s. That’s when they started pushing the “There’s like, literally no difference between men and women!” bullshit propaganda in public schools and on TV shows. They all had a “Girls can do it too and better!” episode

Sabrina Carpenter built her entire talentless career off hating men. I don’t understand how anyone can listen to this garbage. Bring real music back.

Sabrina Carpenter leads 100,000 young women screaming about men being stupid, slow, and useless. Straight up misandry. And they wonder why they can’t find a good man who wants them. Keep going down this lonely path ladies, time is ticking.

Some of the backlash also featured comments claiming that men built the stage she was performing on, as well as all the things she owned. There were also claims that the singer would be nothing without men. Some went so far as to suggest that people who claim men are useless should not be allowed to use anything built by men.

Men built all the luxuries & everything she owns. Without men she’d be nothing!

Men built her stage so she can perform well and technicians also men so her voice reaches the right audience

Any woman that claims men are useless should not be allowed to use anything that men created or maintain.

There were also some who pointed out that Jack Antonoff, a man, is the co-producer and co-writer of her latest album, Man’s Best Friend. Calls were also made to cancel the singer. Sabrina Carpenter has not responded to the wider backlash against her viral Lollapalooza moment as of the writing of this article.

Manchild, the performance of which at Lollapalooza Argentina led to the above-detailed backlash, is from the singer’s Man’s Best Friend album.

The Lollapalooza backlash against Sabrina Carpenter came just weeks after the singer faced criticism over a viral compilation of some of her music videos, in which she kills men repeatedly. Critics online called her, as well as women in general, out for what they claimed were double standards.
