Boyfriend on Demand claims #1 spot on Netflix’s weekly global chart
Boyfriend on Demand follows Mi-rae, portrayed by BLACKPINK’s Jisoo. Mi-rae is an overworked webtoon producer whose personal life is next to nil, which also means she has no time to go on dates and have a proper relationship.
However, everything changes when she begins to use the virtual dating app, Boyfriend on Demand. It allows her to meet perfect dates one after another, which helps her open up to the idea of romance once again.
The K-drama has been on the Top 10 list since its premiere on March 6, 2026, on Netflix. In the previous week of March 9-15th, the rom-com K-drama has reached new heights as it claimed the No. 1 position in the streaming platform’s weekly global chart, in the Non-English category. The Jisoo-starring K-drama garnered 4.8 million views and 47.8 million viewing hours, resulting in topping the chart.
One of the reasons for the K-drama’s success might be the rom-com storyline, which was not a heavy watch and was enjoyable throughout. The 10-part limited series depicted Mi-rae’s struggle at work as she begins to handle Yun Song’s popular webtoon, which she deems as cheesy romantic.
However, her opinion on romance begins to change as she starts using the virtual dating app, where she meets Song’s webtoon lead character, and finds him charming. As she starts to go on dates with different virtual men, she also begins to fall for her colleague Kyeong-nam, who confesses to feeling the same for her. Along with changing her opinion on romance, the virtual world also results in several struggles in Mi-rae’s life.
Apart from the plot, the K-drama also grew popular due to the leads, Jisoo and Doom at Your Service’s Seo In-guk. Along with them, there are cameos of several fan-favorite South Korean stars such as Lee Soo-hyuk, Seo Kang-joon, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Sang-yi, and Choi Si-won, among others, as virtual boyfriends in the Boyfriend on Demand app.
Therefore, the breezy rom-com storyline of Mi-rae’s life and the packed ensemble cast might have helped the K-drama’s global popularity. Apart from Boyfriend on Demand topping the chart, two other K-dramas: Phantom Lawyer starring Yoo Yeon-seok, which premiered on March 13, 2026, and Still Shining starring GOT7’s Park Jin-young, also made it to the Top 10 list, ranking 7th and 10th, respectively.
