One Piece Season 2 Episode 6 starts at the headquarters of Baroque Works, where Miss All Sunday is introduced to Wapol, the former king of the Drum Kingdom. Wapol wants to regain his throne, but is angry that Baroque Works hasn’t made any effort to do so yet. To cool him down, Miss All Sunday offers him a strange Devil Fruit and doesn’t tell him what the power is, but Wapol proceeds to eat it eagerly.

Meanwhile, the Straw Hats are encountering a big problem in One Piece Season 2 Episode 6. Four days after leaving Little Garden, Nami suddenly falls sick and is in a critical state. The crew has to delay their voyage to Alabasta and look for a doctor on a nearby island. The island is Drum Island, a well-known territory for its medical knowledge.

However, Nefertari Vivi is nervous about the trip. Drum Kingdom’s long-standing issues with Alabasta have led her to believe it is important for her to disguise herself. Flashbacks show that her fears are not unfounded. It is revealed that she has been hearing arguments between world leaders for years. As a child, she secretly listened to a debate between Wapol and her father, Nefertari Cobra, over the future of kingdoms. In a different flashback, Wapol even strikes a young Vivi.

Meanwhile, in One Piece Season 2 Episode 6, Smoker and Tashigi reenter the scene while tracking the Baroque Works. They reach a Marine communications outpost and find several Marines dead. They initially suspect the Straw Hats, but soon realize that it is the work of Baroque Works’ agents. Smoker defeats Miss Thursday, while Tashigi fights Mr. 13, whom she captures for questioning.

Upon their arrival at Drum Island, the villagers they encounter are hostile towards the Straw Hats and even open fire on them. Vivi is hit in the leg, but persuades the residents to allow them into the town. There, they encounter Dalton, the captain of the Civilian Guard.

In One Piece Season 2 Episode 6, Dalton states that Drum Kingdom is without a king since Wapol left when the pirate Marshall D. Teach attacked the island. Wapol also took most of the doctors off the island before he left. Only 1 doctor is left, Dr. Kureha, who lives in Drum Castle at the highest point of a snowy mountain and is usually referred to as “witch” by the townspeople.

As Nami’s condition worsens in One Piece Season 2 Episode 6, Monkey D. Luffy and Sanji agree that they can’t afford to wait any longer. Luffy straps Nami onto his back, and the duo begins their dangerous journey up the mountain, through the icy cold. After a burdensome climb, they collapse in front of the castle entrance, where they meet red hat-topped reindeer, Tony Tony Chopper.

Inside the castle, Nami wakes up and finds that Dr. Kureha has already started to treat her. Dr. Kureha tells Nami that she has been bitten by a Kestia, a rare infectious tick that contains a dangerous bacterium. Dr. Kureha will not let Nami go until she recovers from the bite. Sanji is also treated for the numerous cracked ribs that he had during the climb, while Luffy is soaked in warm water for his hypothermia.

Nami is soon back in contact with Chopper, only to find out that reindeer can talk, much to the amazement of the crew. When Luffy finally finds out, he is amazed by the talking reindeer, and One Piece Season 2 Episode 6 ends on a humorous note.

Aside from the actions, this episode also shows how close the crew is. They all give up on their own ambitions to save Nami. It shows that the Straw Hats are more than friends; they are a family. This episode also shows Luffy maturing as a captain.

One Piece Season 2 Episode 6 mostly acts as a prelude for the next story arcs, but its significance lies mainly in the fact that it introduced Dr. Kureha and Tony Tony Chopper and elaborated on the political history between the Drum Kingdom and Alabasta.

One Piece Season 2 Episode 6 is now streaming on Netflix.
