Man on Fire is Netflix’s upcoming thriller series about John Creasy, a Special Forces mercenary trying to start fresh while struggling with PTSD, when he also is taken over by the urge to exact revenge.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who also recently starred as Simon Williams / Wonder Man in Wonder Man, the show is going to be released on Netflix on April 30, 2026. The teaser trailer of the show has just been released.
Teaser trailer of Man on Fire starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II released
The Man on Fire teaser trailer begins with an unknown voice saying:
“John Creasy. US Army Special Forces. Three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. His history looks impressive, but his best days are far behind him.”
But then John challenges this very voice, loading a gun seamlessly and pointing it at the source of the voice, even with a pillow case covering his face, asking:
“You sure about that?”
The trailer doesn’t say much, and all we can make out from it is that John is going to head to Rio for a job and he is hell bent on protecting Poe, who was the sole witness to something tragic that happened and Creasy is still investigating. But it isn’t going to be easy. There are going to be several obstacles in his way, and he won’t hesitate to burn them down. Speaking about John Creasy, writer and showrunner of the show Kyle Killen said to Tudum by Netflix:
“He can do everything.”
He continued:
“That’s what John Creasy needs. He can be incredibly powerful, and still communicates a lot without saying anything. He’s obviously incredible at action, but he’s also very adept at just revealing those little places where he lets you in.”
Killen also spoke about John’s dynamic with Poe, saying:
“It’s that relationship between a man and the person he’s supposed to protect, and the way that really draws out the person he’s trying to hide.”
He explained:
“In some ways, he’s very comfortable with the violence and the danger. Those are areas that he understands. It’s opening himself up to other people that makes him really vulnerable.”

Killen also explained further saying:
“What she needs from him is exactly the thing he can’t give.”
He continued:
“He can be a protector, but he’s really reticent to get close and be a friend.”
Man on Fire also stars Billie Boullet as Poe Rayburn, Alice Braga as Valeria Melo, Scoot McNairy as Henry Tappan, Paul Ben-Victor as Moncrief, and Bobby Cannavale as Paul Rayburn.
Man on Fire is created and executive produced by Kyle Killen, based on the novels Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill by A. J. Quinnell. Other executive producers of the show are Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, Natalie Lehmann, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Tracey Cook, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Steven Caple Jr., Scott Pennington, Ed McDonnell, Michael Polaire, and Stacy Perskie. The production companies behind the show are New Regency Productions, Chernin Entertainment, Chapter Eleven, and RedRum.
Man on Fire will have seven episodes and all of them will be released at once on Netflix on April 30, 2026.
