In The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Episode 3, Reggie Dinkins is clearly not keeping himself busy. He spends his days slumped at home in front of the television and has little idea what day it is. Arthur, the filmmaker who was meant to be making a documentary about him, is beginning to lose the plot. A man sitting on a couch watching network television is not quite what he had in mind.

Finally, Arthur finds out why Reggie stays inside all the time. People really hate him. Since he got cut from the NFL following the gambling scandal, New York Jets fans absolutely hate him. So much so that he can’t even go to his son Carmelo’s football games because there are too many Jets fans around. Instead, Reggie and Carmelo sit at home and watch the tape after the game is over.

Arthur thinks the only way Reggie can save his reputation is for him to actually go out and face the public. So, in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Episode 3, he drags him to Toshi’s, his former favorite eatery. However, a bunch of Jets fans see him and start approaching him. It was never going to work.

Meanwhile, in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Episode 3, Arthur has been self-assured and a bit smug. He thinks he is the clever filmmaker who is going to fix Reggie’s disaster. And then a video appears on the internet. It’s from the set of a parody Marvel movie, Professor Squeeze in the Monoverse, and shows Arthur going absolutely nuts and punching tennis balls that are actually being used on the set. The world is now laughing at him.

Suddenly, Arthur is in the same boat as Reggie, and he is likewise embarrassed in public in The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Episode 3. So the two of them follow through, and wind up, and it is a disaster across town at a documentary-film festival at Lincoln Center. Reggie is getting distress from football fans, and Arthur is getting it from pretentious film people who think he is a joke. A lady even throws a tennis ball in his direction, nodding to his viral moment.

And the most important part here is that even though they are being taunted for completely different reasons, Reggie for football, Arthur for movies, neither of them can truly comprehend why everyone is yelling at the other. But both of them know what it’s like to be humiliated in public, and that mutual feeling begins to unite them into a true team.

Meanwhile, in the middle of all this, Reggie’s ex-wife and agent, Monica, is having difficulties of her own. A German condiment manufacturer, Bröckenseung, has been paying Reggie for 20 years as a thank you for a deal Monica negotiated back when he was a Super Star. That deal has just run out, and the company is not extending it. Reggie’s purse is getting a little lighter as of The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Episode 3.

In addition, Monica’s secretary, Ashley, is probably the most ineffective person ever to sit behind a desk. Monica only employed her because she was from a well-known family (a classic nepo baby). Now Monica has forgotten the family’s names, and she is too worried about offending someone well-known by sacking her.

To have a little break from everything, Monica hangs out with Brina, the much younger girlfriend of Reggie, and with Rusty, who has so much wax in his ears that most of the conversation goes straight over his head.

In The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Episode 3, Monica walks in expecting Brina to be after only Reggie’s money. She can’t fathom a successful woman would be with someone like Reggie. But as she spends more time with Brina, she sees the attraction: Reggie is down-to-earth, and just easygoing and normal. There’s something real there. At the end, Monica even manages to help Brina deal with a probiotic toilet paper brand. Not quite the money they had previously, but it was something.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Episode 3 is the first hour of the show that really pays off. Both Reggie and Arthur are men with lesser, but significant, personalities being publicly exposed for manhandling their lives into a corner. They are completely unrelated worlds, and yet they are both roped into the same boat.
