CBS has officially renewed Boston Blues for a second season on December 3, 2025. Based on the current scheduling, the show is expected to retain its Friday at 10:00 p.m ET/PT time slot on CBS.
In this upcoming season, Danny Reagan and Maria Baez are returning together as Donnie and Marisa. Danny’s move to Boston in Boston Blue changed everything. Both of them were suddenly in a long-distance relationship that neither of them had planned.
Season 1 revealed how hard this was, especially since Baez made it clear she does not want to leave New York. The spectators of this show also want to see more of Ramirez in this spinoff.
Wahlberg appeared in an Instagram clip where he praised Ramirez for being part of Jordan Knight’s music video. As he wrapped up his words, he confirmed that she will appear in the second season of Boston Blue. He did not say if she will stay on as a guest star or join the main cast.

Will Ramirez be back in Boston Blue Season 2 as a regular cast member?
TV Insider asked the creators of this show about the possibility of including Ramirez in season 2. Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier created this spinoff. Sonnier told TV Insider:
“That is a distinct possibility, yes.”
Margolis added:
“Crazier things have happened.”
Margolis also said:
“There is a non-zero percent chance we will see the baby in Season 1 of Boston Blue.”
In this series, Danny joins the Boston Police Department and works with Lena. Sonequa Martin-Green played the role of Lena. Lena comes from a family with a law enforcement background. Her mother, Mae Silver, is the Boston District Attorney. Her sister Sarah and her brother Jonah are a police superintendent and a rookie cop.
Reverend Edwin Peters is also part of the Silver family. Peters is a respected Baptist pastor. The character is played by Ernie Hudson. Meanwhile, Danny is starting a new chapter in Boston and wants to build a stronger bond with his younger son Sean (played by Mika Amonsen).
Will the creators of Boston Blues support Baez’s move?
The creators have not confirmed that Baez will move. Their teasing makes it clear they are interested in the concept. In Hollywood, the phrase ‘distinct possibility’ often means the storyline is being discussed.
Without clear answer, the romance between Baez and Danny is left uncertain. This adds tension as season 2 begins. The question of whether Baez will move to Boston, shape the opening story and keep viewers focused on the couple.
Danny has left the NYPD and is currently working as a lead detective with the BPD. Sean is working with him and has started a new life together in Boston. Viewers will also get to know more about the Silver family. Len Cariou, who played Pop Reagan, will appear in an April episode.
Holly Robinson Peete will join later this season as Jill, who is Mae’s sister. Margolis and Sonnier told TV Insider that Eddie and their baby could also make an appearance.
