Baywatch reboot expands cast as a Yellowstone alum joins the Stephen Amell-led series

The beach is calling again! The iconic lifeguard drama Baywatch is making a return to television, and the new reboot is steadily building its cast. The legendary lifeguard series that once dominated the TV screens all over the globe is now making a comeback with a new reboot.

Years after the original Baywatch became a cultural midget in the world, the new series is forming a new generation of characters; nevertheless, it has to tie back to the franchise history.

The new Baywatch reintroduction is gradually enlarging the cast, and the recent news has introduced another well-known television face into the project. One of the stars of the popular drama Yellowstone, Hassie Harrison, has now officially joined the Stephen Amell-led series.

Hassie Harrison is a new character in the Baywatch reboot

Hassie Harrison is the latest cast member of Baywatch, who played in Yellowstone. Harrison is one of the series regulars in the reboot, and he plays a character called Nat.

As per the official character description, Nat is a former foster child who went on to be an Olympic athlete, later on joining the Baywatch lifeguard team. The personality of the character is based on the background and experience in competitions, which makes her disciplined and determined.

In the narrative, Nat is presented as the right hand and the best friend of Hobie Buchannon in the team of lifeguards. She is also seen as the gold standard of lifeguarding, who is remarkably skilled and devoted to the job. The high expectations and hard work ethic of Nat became the standard for other individuals in the Baywatch unit.

Nevertheless, the same criteria also cause difficulties in her relationships. Since Nat puts such high expectations on both herself and others in terms of performance, she sometimes may strain her relationship with her teammates. This force should contribute to the development of relations within the team of Baywatch.

The new Baywatch series is headed by Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon

The Baywatch reboot is a re-enactment of the original character, and Stephen Amell has been cast to play Hobie Buchannon. The original Baywatch plot introduced Hobie as the son of Mitch Buchannon, who was portrayed by David Hasselhoff.

The relaunch occurs several years after the conclusion of the previous series. Hobie has grown up to become a Baywatch captain who leads his team of lifeguards along the Southern California beaches.

Hobie is in charge of the everyday activities of the Baywatch unit as the captain, where he organizes rescues and the lifeguard squad. The character is a new breed of leaders at Baywatch, following in the line of his father as he leads a younger group of lifeguards.

The series makes Hobie the focal point of the story, as his professional life and personal issues contribute to his character in the reboot.

Jessica Belkin is brought on board Baywatch as the daughter of Hobie

The other significant plot in the Baywatch reboot is the introduction of a new character by the name of Charlie Vale, who is played by Jessica Belkin.

Charlie is brought out as a daughter to Hobie Buchannon, whom he was not aware of before. She grew up in Galveston, Texas, and finally, she manages to locate Hobie and goes to California with a definite purpose: she wishes to be a Baywatch lifeguard.

As Hobie carries on with the team of Baywatch, he has to balance the pitfalls of making a relationship with a daughter he has just met. The personal storyline is the ambition that Charlie has of becoming part of the Baywatch lifeguard unit that plays side by side with the action on the beach.

The series deals with the changing relationship between father and daughter as she tries to establish herself as being competent to take the challenging job. Such a dynamic adds a generational aspect to the reboot without sacrificing the focus on the challenging demands of working in Baywatch.

One of the faces is familiar with the initial series of Baywatch

The reboot also reattaches the original Baywatch series by the use of a returning actor, David Chokachi, who once played lifeguard Cody Madison.

Cody Madison plays a recurring character in the new Baywatch. The character currently operates a beachside restaurant and bar, which serves as a social gathering place for Baywatch community members.

Cody is not actively engaged in full-time work as a lifeguard anymore; however, he maintains contact with the team. He, at times, accompanies the Baywatch team on rescue missions and guides newly joined team members.

His return establishes a connection between the original Baywatch series and its reboot, which maintains continuity for longtime viewers while introducing a new storyline.

Other actors are added to the Baywatch team

Thaddeus LaGrone is also a player in the Baywatch series, whose role is that of Brad.

Brad became a member of the Baywatch lifeguard team, where he served in the military before. Being a former Marine, the character introduces another experience and point of view to the group. Nevertheless, there are also difficulties in moving to civilian life as a military man, especially when Brad gets acquainted with the team of lifeguards, where collaboration is the primary task.

His plot is indicative of the multiculturalism of the individuals who come together to work in Baywatch to offer a different range of experiences to the team. Through these additions, the Baywatch reboot keeps on creating a cast that balances between new characters with links to the original series.

Production details and release plans

Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, which owns the original Baywatch rights, will handle production of the upcoming Baywatch reboot. The first season of the new Baywatch series will consist of 12 episodes, which will begin airing during the 2026-2027 television season.

The new series will film in Los Angeles at Southern California beaches, which the original Baywatch series used as its main filming locations.

Matt Nix leads the production of the new Baywatch series as showrunner and executive producer. The production team for the new series includes McG, who will direct its first episode. The Baywatch reboot production team needs to create a new artistic vision for the show while maintaining its established heritage.

Therefore, the Baywatch remake still needs to complete its development process, but the show has announced its cast members who will help determine its future direction. The show primarily centers around Hobie Buchannon’s leadership and the lifeguards’ work with the new Baywatch team members who join the show.

With Stephen Amell at the helm, Hassie Harrison playing the role of Hobie’s trusted ally, Nat, and Jessica Belkin playing the role of Hobie’s daughter, Charlie, the revival is creating a narrative that connects to the past while also creating new storylines.

The inclusion of Cody Madison and new lifeguards such as Brad adds to the new elements of the Baywatch revival, bringing together the new and the old in the Baywatch universe.

As the revival continues to come together, the new Baywatch revival is likely to offer us a better idea of the direction the original beach drama is likely to take.`
