In this episode, Javadi did a mistake. She forgot to write one of her patients on the hospital’s whiteboard because the digital systems in PTMC were down after the cyberattack. As a result, the medical staff had to track patients manually. Leaving the patient off the board meant that no one had checked on her in time. Consequently, the patient developed a dangerous condition called sigmoid volvulus, which required emergency surgery.

Episode 9 also brought back Becca King, Dr. Mel’s sister, due to her stomach pain. By seeing her sister in the hospital, Mel panicked but could not examine her because she had to attend her malpractice deposition. Dr. Langdon stepped in for help and treated Becca with care.
