Days of our Lives is about to reveal its pod person after all these months and it will knock Paulina Price Carver to her knees. Lexie Carver has been resurrected and will be played by soap opera newcomer Nikki Crawford.
Days of our Lives’ surprise resurrection
When Lexie Carver (then played by Renee Jones) died in 2012, it seemed like one of those permanent soap deaths that couldn’t be reversed. She had cancer and died in her husband Abe’s (James Reynolds) arms in a touching and emotional moment that fans will never forget. But Salem and the DiMeras have Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) at their service, so death is rarely ever permanent. Stefano’s daughter with Celeste (Tanya Boyd) will return from the dead this Friday.
Crawford, a stage and film actress who has appeared on numerous episodic programs like Pretty Little Liars, Malcolm in the Middle, and United States of Al, has been tapped to play the famous beloved character. While she has been on set as Lexie since the middle of last year, she finally makes her debut this week.
“I knew it was a soap, and I know that oftentimes, soap operas bring people back from the dead,” Crawford explained to TV Insider. “And honestly, I just really approached it from Lexie’s truth. I played it more like she was in a coma for the last 15 years. I really honored who she was, but I also grounded her in who she is. I would say at her core, Lexie is driven by love. Her family is everything to her. And now that she’s been given a second chance at life, that raises the stakes.”
Lexie will stun Paulina
In the story, the audience has watched EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel), Gwen (Emily O’Brien), and Rolf discuss someone in a pod for months as Rolf has worked to bring that person back to life. Paulina (Jackee Harry) has been determined to find out why EJ has needed so much electricity for his clinic, so she will be the first one to see what EJ has done.
EJ chooses to reveal the fruits of his handiwork to Paulina. When she sees that her husband’s late wife has been brought back to life, it will rock her world. It will also rock Abe’s and Theo’s (Tyler Joseph Andrews) worlds, as they never thought they would see their beloved Lexie again. Let the games begin.
