Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom was arrested in Las Vegas for driving under the influence. Not only that, while being arrested, he was also given two traffic violations.
Lamar Joseph Odom remains in police custody as he was charged with driving more than 41 miles per hour over the limit, as well as an improper lane change to maintain lane. He was also previously arrested for DUI in 2013.
Odom has openly spoken about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. In 2023, a TMZ documentary titled Lamar Odom: Sex, Drugs & Kardashians, he spoke up about his substance abuse. His struggles were also chronicled in his memoir, Darkness to Light.
The NBA player nearly died in 2015 due to an overdose following a split from his wife at the time, Khloe Kardashian. Odom had overdosed in a brothel, which led to a four-day bender where he had 12 seizures, six strokes, and his heart stopped twice. He told ABC,
“My doctors from Cedars-Sinai said, like, I’m a walking miracle.”
This harrowing experience led to my doing a brief stint in rehab. However, he later admitted that to get clean, he had used small doses of ketamine under medical supervision.
Khloe and Lamar Odom had gotten married at the height of his career in 2009, but they split 4 years later due to his addiction getting worse as well as his multiple infidelities.
As of now, Lamar is still in custody, and there has been no update from him or his representatives.
