Rapper and singer Kevin Gates seemingly went after his estranged wife, Dreka Haynes, in a social media rant on January 16. The couple was married for nine years, and Dreka filed for divorce on July 30, 2025. As seen in the self-recorded video on Instagram, Gates called out her ex-wife, saying that she had wanted to attack his image. He said:
“I challenge you to tell people that we had an Islamic marriage. I challenge you to tell people that my children live with me for the last two years. I challenge you to tell people that you didn’t file for divorce or whatever you call a divorce until I stopped giving you money because you and your family have been stealing from me the whole time. Tell them that.”
Kevin Gates went on to say:
“Since you want to paint it like I am a deadbeat dad, I will take care of my children and I was still taking care of you while was with that ni**a. Tell them that. Tell them I have been gone since 2020. Tell them the truth. Because you are a goddess. You just a goddess of manipulation and darkness. Tell them the truth. Tell the truth. When you do interviews, don’t even bring my name up. Get it off you. Tell them how you stole my money to go open up a dispensary and it wasn’t even open a month because it was got through unrighteous things.”
Kevin Gates said that Dreka made everyone believe that he did not take good care of his children. He said he moved on with his life because he didn’t want to be manipulated.
What did Dreka say about being a manager and wife to Kevin Gates at the same time?
In 2024, Dreka appeared on The Big Facts Network podcast. During the conversation, host Baby Jade asked what it was like being Kevin Gates’ manager and wife at the same time. She asked if there were times when a conflict of interest would arise, and Dreka would feel like not continuing with the dual roles together. Dreka said that she “did the best” for both positions. She added:
“Cause it is a lot and I said this on another interview but at times I would put like the business before like my personal relationship because at the end of the day that was like all we had like I dropped out of school to do this sh*t you know what I’m saying so it’s like no I’m going to put everything into this.”
Dreka said that she had become busy with work and business. She explained that at the time, she believed she was a good wife to Kevin Gates, but balancing everything took effort. She added that every relationship was different, and what worked for one couple might not work for another.
