Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early on January 13, in Hollywood, Los Angeles, following an alleged altercation with a ride-share driver.
According to a report in the BBC, the incident occurred near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Police determined that the 59-year-old actor entered the ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver and made criminal threats towards him.
The outlet reported that Sutherland was released after paying a bond of $50,000 (£37,000). He is due to appear in court on February 2. The investigation remains ongoing in the case. The incident has brought attention towards his personal life.
Sutherland’s longtime partner is Cindy Vela, an American actress and model. They began dating in 2014 and initially kept their relationship private before getting engaged in 2017. They are, however, not married yet. She is a classically trained saxophonist and also won the title of Miss Latina USA in 2000.
Sutherland has been married twice. His first wife was Camelia Kath. He later married Kelly Win.

Kiefer Sutherland was born on December 21, 1966 in London, England. He is the son of two prominent Canadian actors: Donald Sutherland and Shirley Douglas. Sutherland also has a twin sister, Rachel Sutherland.
Kiefer Sutherland is best known for his performance in 24, for which he earned a Golden Globe in 2002. His twin has also stepped into the entertainment industry, working behind the scenes as a post-production supervisor and a producer.
He has half-brothers, Roeg, Rossif and Angus, from his father’s second marriage to Francine Racette. Unlike his other siblings, Roeg is not an actor; he is involved in media finance, film financing and production at the Creative Arts Agency. Sutherland’s other two half-brothers are both actors.
Kiefer Sutherland’s first marriage was to Camelia Kath in 1987. At the time of their wedding he was only 19 and Kath was 14 years older than him. They shared a daughter, Sarah Jude Sutherland. She was born in February 1988 and is an actress. She is best known for her role as Catherine Meyer on the HBO series Veep.
Sutherland’s marriage to Kath lasted for about three years before they divorced in 1990. In an earlier interview, Sutherland shared an anecdote from a friend and fellow actor, Jason Patric who reportedly tried to dissuade Sutherland from going through with his wedding to Kath. He said:
“Jason was worried that I was not making a very good choice. He offered up his companionship and said, ‘If you start running right now, I’ll run with you.”
Kiefer Sutherland’s second marriage was to Elizabeth Kelly Win in 1996. However, it ultimately ended in divorce which was finalized in 2008.
After his separation from Win, the actor became involved with Cindy Vale, his current partner. They largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight until they confirmed their relationship in 2017.
The Texas-born model and actress landed a lead role in the 2009 film Desdemona: A Love Story. The film also won the Best Feature Film award at the Boston Film Festival. Her other roles include – It’s Gawd!, Run, Hide, Fight, and Oak.
