The four-legged companion had been enjoying a walk at Trebarwith Strand on Sunday when he suddenly vanished.

His owners raised the alarm but it wasn’t until Monday that eagle-eyed members of the public spotted him.

Video clips taken from the scene show a Coastguard team gathered at the cliff edge.

One specialist officer abseils down to the springer spaniel, who can be seen anxiously darting away.

The rescuer earns the helpless dog’s trust and gives him a loving back scratch before attaching him to a harness.

Heart-warming photographs show the moment Bruno was reunited with his owners, who were overcome with emotion.

After inspection, it was found the pooch was miraculously uninjured despite the huge fall.

Bruno’s terrified family had issued a desperate appeal for help on Sunday which read: “Our springer spaniel Bruno has gone missing this afternoon while walking on the cliffs at Trebarwith Strand, he was last seen at about 3pm.

“He is very friendly and approachable.”

In a heartwarming update after their pooch’s rescue, the owners said: “Thank you to everyone who supported our search to bring Bruno home and a massive thanks to the coastguard team who safely rescued him.

“He is now home safe.”

Meanwhile, a Boscastle Coastguard spokesman added: “We were paged to reports of a dog stuck partway down an approximately 100ft cliff.

“The dog had been missing since yesterday and was located this morning by a member of the public on a narrow cliff ledge around halfway down.

“Due to the nature of the incident, Polzeath Coastguard were also tasked to support the Boscastle team.

“A qualified cliff technician was lowered to the dog, which was thankfully found to be uninjured – and very pleased to see the coastguard team.

“After a brief assessment, the dog was safely recovered and returned to the cliff top, where it was reunited with its very relieved and grateful owners.

“The circumstances surrounding how the dog came to be in this situation are unknown.”

This comes after we reported how one brave passerby crawled across a frozen lake while trying to rescue a man who plunged into the icy water after trying to help a dog.

The man shuffled across the frozen surface on his hands and knees after spotting someone had broken through the ice and was struggling in the water.

Video posted on Facebook shows the man in the water desperately grabbing his rescuer’s arm to be pulled out.

The nail-biting footage was filmed at Connaught Water in Epping Forest, Essex on Sunday, just before 2.30pm.

Fire services scrambled to the scene and said the dog was safely reunited with its owners.

Elsewhere, a tiny terrier was dramatically rescued by its owners after being trapped underground for three days.
