NOTTINGHAM FOREST have submitted planning applications to expand the City Ground to over 50,000 seats.
The Premier League strugglers, who sit just one place above the relegation zone, have a current capacity of 30,445.
But ambitious owner Evangelos Marinakis plans radically expand the 130-year-old stadium.
Although the plans have been submitted to local authorities, they are yet to be accepted and finalised.
Forest posted a statement on X to inform fans of the plans.
The club said: “Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm the submission of planning applications for the redevelopment of the City Ground.

“Our home for over 120 years will see a significant investment made by our owner, Evangelos Marinakis, to deliver a sustainable and iconic design which increases the stadium’s capacity to over 50,000.
“The redevelopment will be an integral part of the economic growth of the city and the wider region.

“The Club is grateful for the positive public engagement and overwhelming support shown for our proposals ahead of the planning submission.
“We would also like to thank to our key partners, Gleeds, KSS Design Group, Buro Happold, and Savills for their support to date.
“We look forward to working with the Mayor of the East Midlands, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council, as well as our supporters and the wider community, to achieve a successful outcome in the near future.”
Should Forest manage to pull this redevelopment off, the club would have around the seventh biggest stadium in the league.
Both Newcastle and Everton have around 52,000 seats. Old Trafford remains the biggest at 75,653.
Forest hit their greatest heights in recent memory last season when they finished seventh in the Premier League and qualified for Europe.
The club seemed to be moving in the right direction after challenging for a Champions League place for large parts of the season.
However, Marinakis sacked Nuno Espirito Santo at the start of September and his replacement Ange Postecoglou only lasted 39 days.
Now Sean Dyche is presiding over a true relegation battle with just four points separating them from the drop.
