GIAN van Veen secured a spot in the World Darts final for the first time after an epic victory over Gary Anderson.
The Dutchman overcame the veteran Scot – who enjoyed the overwhelming backing of the Ally Pally crowd – 6-3 in a match that included what many called ‘the greatest set ever played’.

But viewers on social media felt that some fans had crossed the line with the amount of booing and whistling when the 23-year-old was throwing.
One posted: “A***holes in the crowd whistling, you are witnessing greatness here stop being b******s ffs”
Another wrote: “Whistling at the darts is so embarrassing. Just fellas who can’t handle their drink or punts. You’re watching one of the games of the tournament! Idiots honestly”
A third commented: “F***ing whistling man. Absolutely no need for it. Why would you try and ruin the thing you’ve paid to see?”

And a fourth wrote: “Feel sorry for Gian not sure why idiots are whistling on him!”
After the match, Van Veen claimed that the whistling had caused him to drop one set before he composed himself.
He landed 55 per cent of his doubles and the stats were boosted by a ridiculously impressive fifth set that saw both players land the ‘big fish’ 170 checkout.
But he managed to average 102.99 as both players continued to play to an extremely high standard for almost the entirety of the match.

In the other semi-final, Luke Littler brushed aside Ryan Searle 6-1 as the The Nuke managed an average of 105.35.
Littler himself had a run-in with the crowd after beating Rob Cross in the fourth round.
The Brit told fans after the match: “I’m not bothered. Really not bothered.
“Can I say one thing? You guys pay for tickets and you pay for my prize money. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Come on!”
