Anyone surprised that Dimitri showed up? Not us.

While Days of our Lives presented us with quite a romantic New Year’s Eve episode (two days late), which included a wedding and a marriage proposal, it ended just as we expected it to. There’s Dimitri, acting quite surprised to see Leo in Horton Town Square. It’s just as Gwen planned things, and she made it obvious she was planning something. Between all those nervous looks over her shoulder, we knew she was expecting someone. And who else would it be? Gwen had been pushing for Leo go find Dimitri for weeks because she had needed to distract him from that secret lab. But since Leo refused to go and insisted on getting married instead, Gwen clearly had to bring Dimitri to Salem to throw Leo off. Not only will this distract him from his investigative reporting, but it will also give Leo angst, which is exactly what Gwen wants. She is loath to see Leo happy after he slept with her new husband behind her back, including on her honeymoon. But at least Dimitri’s appearance added some soap opera to this lovely little Salem midnight wedding. We also wonder if Leo and Dimitri might have secretly married, considering the big deal Marlena made about not being able to file the marriage certificate with the courts for a few days. How very convenient when complications arrive…
