Cheapest place to buy £2.50 Quality Street exactly a week before Christmas

THE cheapest place to buy £2.50 Quality Street exactly a week before Christmas has been revealed.

Prices for the festive favourite are all over the place, with some retailers charging close to twice as much for the same item

For the 300g bags, Asda is the cheapest, priced at £2.50 – and at 83p per 100g it’s still the best value for your money compared with rivals charging far more for the same size bag.

That undercuts rivals by a wide margin. Co-op is selling the same 300g bag for £4.00 (£1.33 per 100g), while Tesco has it priced at £4.50 (£1.50 per 100g), or £3 with a Clubcard.

If you’re buying a bigger tub for sharing, the best value isn’t the same store.

The 550g Quality Street chocolate tub is cheapest at Iceland, costing £3.95, which works out at £0.72 per 100g.

Other retailers are close behind. B&M is selling the 550g tub for £4.39 (£0.80 per 100g), while Asda has it for £4.42 (£0.80 per 100g).

At Tesco, the 550g tub costs £4.50 (£0.82 per 100g), but drops to £3.95 with a Clubcard.

Ocado shoppers will pay £5.00 (£0.91 per 100g), while prices rise sharply at Sainsbury’s (£6.00, £1.09 per 100g) and Morrisons (£7.00, £1.27 per 100g).

Buying online can be the priciest option, with the 550g tub listed on eBay at £12.95, or £2.35 per 100g.

It’s also worth checking pack sizes before buying, as a lower shelf price doesn’t always mean better value — comparing the cost per 100g can help shoppers find the real bargain when stocking up for Christmas treats.
