Morgan Rogers back to his best for unstoppable Aston Villa but still overlooked by over 93% of Dream Team managers

MORGAN ROGERS (£4.8m) is back to his best.

And any Dream Team manager worth their salt should amend their records accordingly.

Aston Villa’s playmaker-in-chief put the team on his back at the London Stadium on Sunday as he scored a brace to extend the Villains blitzing form to nine consecutive wins in all competitions.

Unai Emery’s side twice came from behind and Rogers was responsible for the show-stealing winner in the 79th minute, a dipping effort from distance not dissimilar to his free-kick at Elland Road last month.

Come full time, the England international banked 18 points for his best single-game haul of the season so far.

This performance represents a strong reaction to a lacklustre Gameweek 14, when he mustered four points across two outings against Arsenal and Basel.

More broadly, Rogers has been trending upwards lately with four goals and two assists in his last seven games.

This fruitful spell has yielded 56 points at an average of eight per fixture.

These numbers are reminiscent of his 2024/25 form when he registered 30 goal involvements in all comps.

Rogers started the current campaign among the most popular midfielders in the game but his ownership quickly evaporated as Villa failed to win any of their first six games.

He mustered just 17 points during this time, a brutally slow start for his backers.

However, his recent upturn has propelled him up the rankings.

Rogers now ranks joint-11th in his position alongside Mohammed Kudus (£4.9m) on 116 points.

Some of the notable names below him include Ismaila Sarr (£4.3m), Moises Caicedo (£4.2m), Antoine Semenyo (£4.5m), Eberechi Eze (£4.6m) and Joao Palhinha (£3.7m).

Simply put, Rogers is in fine form for a team that are flying and this should be enough to titillate Dream Team bosses.

His current ownership of 6.8% is respectable but there 20 midfielders who feature in more teams at the time of writing.

The 23-year-old is currently the third-most popular recruit ahead of Gameweek 16, when Villa will host Manchester United.

That match-up looks more appealing after the Red Devils shipped four goals in a chaotic draw with Bournemouth on Monday night.

Gameweek 17 brings a testing double header of Chelsea (a) and Arsenal (a) before a more favourable combination of Nottingham Forest (h) and Crystal Palace (a) in Gameweek 18.

There are certainly more friendly festive schedules elsewhere but gaffers who value form will see Rogers a strong option for the coming weeks.
