Welcome to Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What happened on Days of our Lives
Somehow, we are now supposed to believe Stephanie Johnson is gun-shy about marriage and starting a family when that was all she could think about when she was with Chad. She embraced the role of Thomas and Charlotte’s surrogate mom with gusto and only ended the relationship because she knew Chad wasn’t ready to give her what she wanted — a ring and a family. Now, she is with a man who can’t stop talking about settling down and having babies with her, but all she can do is give apprehensive looks while trying to change the subject. What happened? Is this just the case of a directionless character who hasn’t truly found her place on the Days of our Lives canvas? It often feels like the show has no idea what to do with Steve and Kayla’s firstborn, as Stephanie flits and flounders from man to man, never really settling anywhere that catches fire with fans. Somehow, she went from wannabe mom to smutty romance novelist to mystery novelist in the blink of an eye, but that wannabe mom now puts on a smile for Alex as she avoids the subject of a long-term commitment and kids. It makes very little sense and goes against the history of the character we watched play out only two years ago. At least Alex acknowledges the change in him, but Stephanie doesn’t even see the change in herself.
