CAST your mind back to the 00s – it’s the era of the bazooka boob. Katie Price’s dominated every magazine, Victoria Beckham’s Baden-Baden implants were ‘the dream’ look and the shift into a surgically-enhanced perky, fake chest was in.
Now, 20 years on, that ‘power cleavage’ is back, evolved and has become ‘the look’ dominating a-list red carpets this season.
Despite the thermostat dropping, busty displays are popping out (and up) everywhere.
Last weekend, Beyonce could hardly contain herself at the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix. Meanwhile, model Kelly Brook has had no qualms showing off her chest in the I’m A Celeb… jungle. And why should she, she still looks so good!
Then, just earlier this week, whilst the UK was wrapped in a cold snap, Kylie Jenner, 28, flaunted her enviable curves in a series of steamy bikini snaps.
The 28-year-old billionaire and mum-of-two looked sensational as she soaked up the sun in a skimpy metallic silver bikini, proudly showing off her assets.

Jennifer Lopez, Sydney Sweeney & Jennifer Lawrence stun at awards ceremony
This generation’s Marilyn Monroe – Sydney Sweeney – also left nothing to the imagination, as she oozed sexy sophistication in a sheer silver dress earlier this October.
The White Lotus actress, 28, went braless under her figure-hugging attire, which featured a floor-skimming hemline and elbow-length sleeves – causing quite the storm online.
Indeed, the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner brood, the Christy actress and others are now leading from the front – as they, and so many others, are daring to bare their breasts.
Almost a decade ago, the style bible Vogue told women to put them away.
At the time, they said: “The t*ts will not be out for the lads. Or for anyone else, for that matter.
“Rejecting the stereotypes of gender has been brought sharply into focus – with the days of women as eye candy, their sexuality positively smouldering rather than subtly played out, officially over.”
Celebs clearly had enough of the woke nonsense, flaunting their cleavage just like their predecessors did in the 00s.
Body language pro Judi James says: ” ‘Pad them out and pile them high’ was the mantra of famous ‘00’s icons who used implants and uplift as their route to fame by attracting the male gaze of sexual approval straight to their chests.
”The compressed shape of the breasts and the deep cleavage created by the cantilever bras created a statement of sexual mimicry by recreating the shape of the buttocks.”
There are plenty of icons from the Noughties who would have their perky bust, both natural and surgically enhanced with silicone implants, on full show.
The Baywatch generation, with blonde bombshell Pammie, now 58, was very influential.
Pamela Anderson stopped the world in its tracks when she ran along a sun-drenched beach in a striking red swimsuit, her signature blonde hair and enhanced chest – and decades later, she remains as influential as ever.
In fact, the Playboy cover star became such a huge sex symbol that by 1990, almost a million women around the world had undergone breast surgery.
By 1990 almost a million women worldwide had undergone breast surgery.
From there, the celebrity trend continued to grow. Victoria Beckham – now known as Lady Beckham – went from a natural 34A to a 34DD after the birth of her first son, Brooklyn, in 1999.
The now 41-year-old A-lister was regularly snapped in figure-hugging dresses with a plunging neckline after she went from pancake-flat to what she once comically called “torpedo bazookas”.
She flashed her ample chest in low-cut crop tops at the height of her WAG superstardom while cheering on husband David at the 2006 World Cup at England’s base in Baden Baden.
It was also in the 00s that Katie Price’s fame as glamour model Jordan peaked after having her first op aged 18, where she went from a B to a C cup.
Since then, the 47-year-old mum-of-five has undergone a total of 17 boob jobs, including one to take her to 32GG – and the OnlyFans content creator won’t shy away from giving her fans an eyeful of her chest, just like former fellow Page Three star, Jodie Marsh.
Back then, flaunting your chest was a show of fame, wealth and celeb- status however, according to the expert, the younger generation are giving The Power Cleavage a new spin.
”It was a look that eventually became seen as pure cheese but, like the wasp-waist corset, it’s currently being used by celebs like Sydney and Kylie to create a 360% power move as they relaunch this symbol of seaside postcard sexuality and reclaim it as their own statement of rebellious confidence,” adds Judi.
”In a world of sports bras and gym-honed bodies the ‘breasts on a balcony’ look gives the celebs a new provocative tool to shock with,” she told Fabulous.
”It’s more about personal empowerment than repression and for many of these stars it’s a look they’ve only embraced after they’ve won their Oscars or run million-dollar businesses, rather than being a method of working their way up through the ranks.
”It’s because they don’t need to do it that helps to make it a statement of confidence and power, like Madonna’s famous revival of the corset and conical bra of the very unliberated ‘50s.”
Interestingly, there’s another element to flaunting your chest and not feeling ashamed about it, Judi added.
”Intriguingly these ‘balcony boobs’ might also be projecting subliminal signals of superior physical power too,” she said.
”A wide, full chest is a core sign of superior strength, especially when teamed with the kind of toned biceps a lot of these stars are getting from the gym.
”So, the splayed chest can also give the impression of a more alpha power and presence when its not just being used as a statement of reclaimed sexuality.”’
Telling women what they should wear, what they should or should not show, is a tale as old as time — it’s gotten old and these famous faces are clearly tired of it.
And for many, proudly flaunting their new ”revenge” curves is also about showing their exes what they’re missing.
Lily Allen – who’s going through a bitter divorce from David Harbour amid cheating rumours – recently had a boob job and has been showing off the results in a series of saucy snaps.
“They look really incredible when I take my top off, and my bra off,” the 40-year-old mum of two told close pal Miquita Oliver on their Miss Me? podcast.
Soap star Helen Flanagan split from her ex-fiancé, Scott Sinclair, in October 2022 after 13 years together, and recently had a boob job to boost both her bust and her self-confidence.
After her “toxic” relationship with Scott ended, the blonde bombshell’s goal was to “regain confidence in her body” after her boobs became “so saggy” she could tie them in a bow.
Breast is officially back – and this time, with even more daring necklines.
Top bra tips
Fabulous’ Deputy Fashion Editor, Abby McHale has shared her tips for keeping your bras looking their best.
1. Don’t wash your bras in the washing machine on their own, this is how your wiring will get damaged. Instead either wash in a pillowcase or take them in the shower with you and wash as you would your body.
2. Always start on the loosest hooks for your back, that way as the bra is worn more and the elastic stretches you can tighten it up with the tighter hooks.
3. If you wear your bra two to three times a week then it should last between six months to a year before you need to replace it.
4. You should always be able to feel your bra throughout the day, if you don’t it means it’s not doing its job properly.
5. It’s actually the band across the back that keeps your boobs upright and not the cups itself.
