Michael Urie is talking Ugly Betty!
If you forgot, the 45-year-old Emmy-nominated actor starred as Marc St. James, the trusted assistant of Vanessa Williams‘ Wilhelmenia Slater, on the fan-favorite ABC dramedy, which ran from 2006 to 2010. The cast also included America Ferrera, Eric Mabius, Ana Ortiz, Becki Newton, Tony Plana, Mark Indelicato, and Judith Light.
In a new interview with Variety, Michael said that some sort of Ugly Betty reunion or revival “would be the greatest,” adding, “We would all love that so, so much.”

“I also think it would be so interesting in a woke world, you know?” he continued. “Because that show was so ahead of its time. When you watch it back, there’s a couple of cringey things, but for the most part, it was ahead in terms of the way you treat people, in terms of diversity.”
“It was very feminist, very queer-friendly, queer-forward,” Michael continued. “It was all those things — in 2006.”
As for where he thinks his character Marc St. James is today, Michael said, “I like to think he’s running Mode, but the truth is he’s probably still an underling of Wilhelmenia somehow.”

“He’s definitely still best friends with Amanda (Newton). I really wanna know where Justin Suarez (Indelicato) is, what’s he doing now?” he continued. “And what has Betty (Ferrera) done? What empire is she conquering? Because she was always the brightest and the boldest.”
America also weighed in on rebooting the show in 2023.
