Alan Ritchson shares latest Reacher Season 5 update ahead of show’s return

Ahead of the Reacher Season 4 premiere, Alan Ritchson, who plays the titular character, has shared an exciting update about Season 5. Ritchson took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the sets of Season 5, confirming that the filming for the next installment has begun.

Season 4 is set to premiere on August 12, 2026, on Prime Video with three episodes releasing together. The rest of the episodes will follow a weekly release schedule.

With Ritchson already sharing updates from the sets of the succeeding season, it appears that the viewers may not have to wait for too long for Season 5 to arrive. The series was renewed for the fifth season in May 2026. Its spin-off series, Neagley, is set to release on September 16, 2026.

Developed by Jack Santora and based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series, the show follows the titular lead, a former military cop who lives as a drifter, travelling all across the United States. Using his investigative skills and combat abilities, he takes on dangerous criminals and solves complex conspiracies.

Since the action crime series was renewed for Season 5, the viewers were eagerly waiting for the next update. On Monday, July 20, 2026, Ritchson took to Instagram to share his experience from the sets of Season 5. He captioned the video as,

Reacher Season 5 potential cast, plot and more

Even though the filming for Season 5 has already begun, Prime Video is yet to reveal which Lee Child novel Season 5 will be based on. There are around 30 Jack Reacher novels available, and since the show does not follow a pattern, it is hard to determine what their next choice will be. Season 4 will be based on Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow.

Previously, Ritchson has shared that he would love for the show to adapt Child’s The Midnight Line, which deals with the opioid crisis in America. In an interview with Business Insider, he shared,

“The book that I am proudest of is ‘The Midnight Line,’ which is about the opioid crisis, written from a very sympathetic point of view, from the addict’s point of view.”

He revealed that the viewers would be able to see a different side of the lead character.

The cast for Season 5 is under wraps as of now. However, Alan Ritchson will be reprising his role.
