What authorities have said so far about the Walmart shooting
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Walmart confrontation began as a verbal dispute over a parking spot before escalating to gunfire. Video reviewed by local news outlets, including footage from a witness’s phone and a nearby vehicle’s camera system, appears to show the two arguing before a single shot was fired.
The woman involved, who has not been publicly identified, remained at the scene following the shooting and cooperated with responding deputies. She told investigators she acted in self-defense. She has not been arrested as the investigation continues.
A witness told reporters he heard a woman shouting before the shooting occurred, though authorities have not released further detail on what was said during the argument.
What happens next
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting. Once that investigation concludes, the case will be turned over to the Broward State Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether criminal charges are warranted.
