Neagley first look confirms Reacher’s guest role amidst a new troublemaker in Chicago

Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the first-look images for Neagley, the Maria Sten-led Reacher spin-off series, scheduled to arrive on September 16. The first glimpse also teases the return of Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher, who will join Sten’s character after wrapping up his own adventure in Reacher Season 4.

Co-created by Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton, the upcoming Reacher spin-off series is based on the characters created by Lee Child in the Jack Reacher novel series. Maria Sten, who has played the titular corporate security professional who served with Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit since Reacher Season 1, will return to lead her own spin-off.

While Neagley operated in Reacher’s shadows, the spin-off series will dive deeper into her background and plunge her into the underbelly of Chicago after one of her friends dies in a ”suspicious accident.”

More on this in our story.

What is the release date for Neagley?

Amazon Prime Video has finally unveiled the release date for Neagley. The Maria Sten-led spin-off series will release all eight episodes on September 16, along with the Reacher Season 4 finale.

While the streamer has decided to drop the freshman season of the Reacher spin-off all at once, the fourth season of the Alan Ritchson-led flagship series will follow a weekly release schedule, after debuting with a 3-episode premiere on August 12.

This means September 16 will be a special day for all Reacher fans, with back-to-back releases of Neagley‘s freshman season and the Reacher season 4 finale.

Since both Reacher and its spin-off are Prime Video originals, you will need a subscription to watch the upcoming episodes, which starts at $8.99/month for the standalone plan.

Neagley first-look images confirm Reacher’s guest role

It looks like Alan Ritchson’s titular character will pull off double duty in the coming months. While the title character from Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series will naturally return in Reacher Season 4 (based on Child’s seventh novel, Persuader), fans will also see him in action with Neagley in the spin-off series.

The first-look images of the spin-off series feature Maria Sten’s character, as she takes on Chicago’s underbelly to uncover the suspicious incidents behind her friend’s death. Naturally, her friend from the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit will come to her aid, setting up another adventure for the iconic duo in the spin-off series. While Ritchson’s presence is a much-welcome surprise, the Reacher star will reprise his character in a guest capacity.

Plot and cast details for the Reacher spin-off series

The official logline for the upcoming spin-off reads as follows:

”When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice. Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.”

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-creators and co-showrunners Nick Santora and Nick Wootton appreciated Sten’s take on the character and teased how she is quite different from her pal from the 110th Special Investigations Unit. While Reacher is a lone wolf who operates on his wanderlust, Frances will be characterized by her vulnerability, while maintaining her toughness, physicality and humour.

In addition to Maria Sten and guest star Alan Ritchson, the Reacher spin-off will star Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley, Damon Herriman as Lawrence Cole, Adeline Rudolph as Renee Birdwhistle, Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow and Jasper Jones as Keno.

Tune in to Neagley Season 1 on Prime Video on September 16. Reacher Season 4 will premiere on August 12, culminating with the spin-off series on September 16.
