The Texas Congresswoman asks why the White House is fighting against the release of all the Jeffrey Epstein documents
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Houston) turned up the heat on President Donald Trump after new documents allegedly linking him to Jeffrey Epstein were released for public consumption this week.
Crockett accuses Trump of blocking the Esptein investigation
In a blistering television interview, Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) accused Donald Trump of hiding behind his own party’s arm-twisting efforts to block full release of documents tied to the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking scandal.
“If you know that you didn’t do anything, then why is it that you would be twisting members of your own party’s arms, trying to get them not to release it?” Crockett asked on CNN.
Crockett believes the new email leaks implicate Trump
The controversy centers on newly released files that connect former financier Jeffrey Epstein and his network to numerous high-profile figures. Among them are alleged communications and other records that potentially implicate Trump. While the White House and Trump have strongly denied wrongdoing, Crockett and fellow Democrats say the refusal to release all files is deeply suspicious.
A July-issued memo from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation concluded that Epstein had no “client list” and died by suicide, but skeptics say the document leaves many questions unanswered.
Key accusations
When critics of Crockett and Democrats accuse them of unfairly going after Trump, Crockett retorts with fire.
“I will admit that Donald Trump has been investigated more than the norm, but he just happens to be more corrupt and more criminal than any other president that we’ve had.”
Crockett continued, stating that Trump is “the only president who has been convicted of 34 felony convictions that we’ve ever had in the Oval Office.”
She challenged Trump’s reversal on his campaign-promise to release Epstein-related files, arguing:
“But the fact that [he] does not want these files to be out … to me, says that he has more to hide than him actually being able to exonerate himself.”
The Texas Congresswoman cited emails between Epstein and author Michael Wolff that allegedly referenced Trump’s connections to Epstein.
“It’s clear that Epstein had something to hang over [Trump’s] head,” Crockett charges.
White House response and GOP position
The White House dismissed the original reports as “fake news,” following the Wall Street Journal’s claim that Attorney General Pam Bondi had informed Trump that his name appeared in Epstein files. According to Reuters, Republicans argue the focus on Epstein is politically driven, and they defend Trump’s right to fight what they say are baseless allegations.
Political implications
Crockett’s remarks reflect growing impatience among congressional Democrats for full transparency. They argue that the failure to release full records undermines public trust in government and raises concerns about executive accountability. For Republicans, the issue presents a dilemma: either back Trump’s efforts to withhold files, or break from him, which could have intra-party consequences.
What’s next
A push in the U.S. House of Representatives for bipartisan legislation to compel full public release of the Epstein files remains underway. Whether enough Republican votes will break with the White House to pass it is uncertain. Meanwhile, the broader narrative — linking Trump, Epstein, and the question of what is still hidden — continues to simmer.
