Currently married to celebrity hairstylist Mark Hampton, the Buffalo ’66 star, Christina Ricci, made headlines after her 11-year-old son, Freddie, sent a message to his father, and Ricci’s former husband, James Heerdegen, about his mother reportedly drinking alcohol while they were traveling to Canada together on a flight on June 16, 2026, according to People.
While the 46-year-old Christina Ricci shares Freddie with film producer James Heerdegen, with whom she split in 2020, after seven years of marriage, the Sleepy Hollow actress also has a daughter, Cleopatra, who is just 4, with Mark Hampton. After Freddie informed his father, James, about Ricci’s reported drinking incident, Heerdegen lodged a complaint with the court and filed for emergency custody of Freddie.
Widely known for starring in indie films and playing unique and edgy characters, Christina Ricci accepted the fact with integrity that she indeed consumed some alcohol while she was on the flight with her son; however, Freddie, after speaking with his lawyers and legal team, stated that he might have responded too emotionally. According to the court documents, as cited by TMZ:
He [Freddie] “advised that he ‘overreacted’ in sending those messages to his father” and “that the description of Ms. Ricci’s alcohol consumption and behavior thereafter was not as he had described.”
The court document further stated:
Freddie had “no fear in continuing to be” in his mother’s custody.
Following Freddie’s statement regarding the matter, the court decided to deny James Heerdegen’s emergency custody appeal for their son, and also refused to accept his request for an alcohol test for Ricci.
Christina Ricci paid tribute to Mark Hampton for Father’s Day
According to Us Weekly, the Golden Globe-winning actress, Christina Ricci, who began her career quite early on, as a child actress, praised and honored her husband, Mark Hampton, on Instagram on Father’s Day. She took the opportunity to recognize Hampton, who, besides being a prominent hairstylist, also owns an art gallery in LA, in a post shared on June 21, the caption of which read:
“Happy Father’s Day!!!!!! The best dad we could have ever hoped for.”
The caption further added:
“I honestly didn’t know they made them like you, babe. I am so grateful for you. We LOVE you so much @markhamptonhair.”
As per Us Weekly, when Christina Ricci got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year in March, even at that time, during her acceptance speech, she spoke highly of Hampton and her children, and said:
“I want to thank my family. Mark, you’re the most supportive and loving husband. Freddie, you made me feel so much love the day you were born and reconnected me to art, passion and ambition. And Cleo, my gorgeous little baby girl, I love you so much. I’m inspired by all your strength, courage and spirit. She’s really spirited!”
