The Pewdiepie vs. T-Series feud was perhaps one of the biggest online feuds of 2018, and now in 2026, it is receiving new outrage. PewDiePie, aka Felix Kjellberg, hasn’t been an active YouTuber for quite some time, but that doesn’t mean that netizens have forgotten what went down. Back in 2018, the feud began when the Indian record company T-Series’ YouTube subscriber count was getting close to that of Pewdiepie.
Felix had the most number of subscribers at that point. What followed were not just campaigns to increase Felix’s subscriber count but also actions by his supporters, which were racist towards Indians. Almost a decade after the feud, there is now reignited outrage against the YouTuber and his supporters.
Pewdiepie blamed years after the feud with T-Series
When Felix and his supporters realized that T-Series was getting too close to having the most number of YouTube subscribers, they made a lot of effort to gain subscribers for him. Despite all their efforts, the Indian record company, T-Series, surpassed the YouTuber in YouTube subscribers in 2019.
However, what the Pewdiepie’s supporters did wasn’t just campaigning. They used unethical ways to increase Felix’s subscriber count and used anti-India statements to help their cause. The YouTuber had also released a diss track called Bitch Lasagna, which not only insulted T-Series but also Indians and Indian culture in general.
Now, conversations about the feud and how it went down have resurfaced online. U/Usual-Space-8689 started a Rants and Opinions thread on Reddit addressing what Pewdie and his supporters did in 2018-2019. The user highlighted the targeted Indian hatred that was spread simply because an Indian record company was going to have more subscribers than Felix.
One user (Itskiran2000) pointed out in the comments that it’s not really about whether Felix started the hate or not. The user adds that his fault was in fueling the hate that was being spread. The user’s comment reads:
Whether he started it or not is a different debate, but he definitely made it cool and I f**king hate him for it. He knew the situation, milked T-series to the fullest for virality and views.
Most of the comments on the thread talk about how harmful it was that Felix let the hate against T-Series and Indians spread like wildfire back then. Since he was an extremely influential figure at the time, many users argue that since he himself participated in hateful activities, he set a bad, bad example for his followers and supporters.
There are some netizens who point out that T-Series deserves the hate since the company has been allegedly accused of stealing others’ music and repackaging it. However, others point out that irrespective of the reasons, targeted hatred against Indians wasn’t the way to handle the situation.
After the Christchurch mosque shootings, where a terrorist mentioned Felix’s name, he released a video asking his followers to stop trying to increase his subscriber count. The feud did gradually die down. However, users in the Reddit thread point out that later on, Mr. Beast was also responsible for spreading hate against T-Series and India.
In 2023, Mr. Beast was comparing his subscriber count with that of T-Series and made a post on X (@MrBeast) saying,
“I’m doing this for Pewdiepie”
After he surpassed T-Series in subscriber count, he posted on X,
“After 6 years we have finally avenged Pewdiepie 🥹”
Several users on the Reddit thread pointed out that while it was Felix and his supporters who started the hate, Mr. Beast began it again in 2024 when it wasn’t even necessary.
It has been years since the PewDiePie and T-Series feud, and neither party seems to care about who has more subscriber counts. However, netizens continue to hold Felix and his supporters at the time accountable for their allegedly racist statements and actions.
