Project Runway was renewed for Season 22 on October 21, 2025, and the trailer for the upcoming season has now been released. The upcoming season will begin airing from July 9, 2026, on Freeform.
The Project Runway Season 22 trailer reveals that Heidi Klum, Law Roach, and Nina Garcia are returning as judges, and Christian Siriano is returning as a mentor. The trailer also reveals that Tyra Banks, who appeared on Season 21 of the show as a guest judge, is going to appear in the upcoming season as a recurring judge.
Days after Netflix lawsuit, Tyra Banks joins Project Runway Season 22 as a recurring judge
The trailer for Project Runway Season 22 reveals that it is going to be the biggest season of the show yet. In Season 22, we will see 22 designers competing with each other. As usual, there’s going to be a lot of drama in between all the challenges.
Tyra Banks, who is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in fashion, is going to be a recurring judge this season. As the trailer shows, the designers were beyond excited at the news of her joining the show as a judge.
The announcement of Tyra Banks coming on as a recurring judge on Project Runway comes days after she filed a lawsuit against Netflix for allegedly manipulating what she said in the interview regarding Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model. She claimed that allegedly only 16 minutes of a three-and-a-half-hour interview were
“stripped of context and reassembled to support a false and defamatory narrative unrelated to what she actually expressed.”
Banks is now asking for a jury trial to determine the amount of money she should be paid in damages. After the way she was portrayed in Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, many would’ve thought that Banks would stay away from reality shows for a while. But the supermodel and entrepreneur has decided to carry on with her work and is being welcomed by others too.
Heidi Klum is going to host this season of Project Runway. Guest judges for Season 22 of the show are Ice Spice, Ciara, Iman, Winnie Harlow, Kiernan Shipka, Niecy Nash, Nina Dobrev, Fausto Puglisi, Sergio Hudson, and Willy Chavarria. There are also going to be some cameos including Nara Smith, costume designer Molly Rogers (known for The Devil Wears Prada 2), Hannah Berner, Paige DeSorbo, Becca Bloom, and Nicky Campbell.
There are also going to be crossover episodes this season, which will feature the cast of Dancing with the Stars and the Get Real universe. Dancing with the Stars cast members Julianne Hough, Val Chmerkovskiy, Jenna Johnson, Alan Bersten, Emma Slater, Ezra Sosa, Britt Stewart, and Brandon Armstrong will appear as models. Get Real universe’s Charity Lawson, Ekin-Su, Sarah Jane Nader, and Veejay Floresca will appear as models as well.
Project Runway will premiere on Freeform on July 9, 2026. It is yet to be known how many episodes the season will have, but they are expected to air weekly on Thursdays. Every episode will be available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+ after they air on Freeform first.
