The Young and the Restless’ Lily Winters was finally gifted Chancellor by Victor as payment for staging a kidnapping to use as leverage against Cane and Phyllis. Her first major move as owner of the company was to install Cane as CEO, which has rocked the corporate structure of Genoa City. Their biggest task now lies ahead… how can they successfully work together after everything that has happened between them? They must prove to everyone that this was the right call.
Can Cane Truly Move Beyond Aristotle Dumas?

Cane spent a considerable amount of time amassing wealth and power under the alias of Aristotle Dumas. Once everyone in Genoa City learned the true identity of the corporate tycoon, Cane returned to town determined to expand his reach to every major company from Jabot to Newman Enterprises. Despite losing everything after Victor decimated Arabesque, Cane rose from the ashes and made amends by agreeing to be a donor to save Malcolm’s (Shemar Moore) life. However, that hasn’t been enough for people like Devon (Bryton James) or Nate (Sean Dominic), who still harbor deep distrust for Cane and his penchant for lying.
Cane has insisted that he isn’t the same man who hurt Lily on numerous occasions. He told Devon that he will prove himself to him and everyone else who doubts his intentions, but he was still met with skepticism because of his shady past. Running Chancellor has the ability to serve as a way to convince everyone that he has changed, and he can make every success as CEO a reminder of what he is capable of. As long as Cane stays away from sketchy business dealings and doesn’t try to cut corners or manipulate anyone, he might not only fully win Lily over, but perhaps show Devon that he was wrong to doubt him.
Lily’s Decision Could Strengthen or Strain Their Future

Hiring Cane wasn’t the same as hiring any CEO off the streets of Genoa City. Lily placed one of the most valuable companies in town in the hands of Cane, someone she has found difficult to trust on numerous occasions. Lily and Cane have been spending much more time together, and what began as conversations and reconnecting over Malcolm has transitioned into actual dates and several passionate kisses. Lily’s biggest issue now is that nobody in town views this as purely a business decision. Everyone from Victoria to Nikki to Devon believes she is allowing her personal feelings for Cane to cloud her better judgment.
Things might be progressing nicely for the former spouses at the moment, but what happens if that changes? How will Lily handle Cane doing something that derails all of the progress they have made? This opportunity for Cane to run Chancellor comes with astronomical expectations because any setback at Chancellor could sideline the romantic progress between the pair. This is make-or-break for Cane and Lily, and now that she is choosing to combine her personal and professional lives, the lines are blurred more than ever. She may eventually come to regret that choice.
Do you think Lily is making the right decision by trusting Cane with both Chancellor and her heart, or is she setting herself up for disappointment? Let us know in the comments below.
