Daveigh Chase GoFundMe donations surge, receives nearly $4,000 despite manager questioning “boyfriend’s” intention behind fundraiser

Before former child actor Daveigh Chase lost her life on June 16, her alleged boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, launched a GoFundMe titled “Help Daveigh Chase Find Comfort & Peace,” with a goal of $5,500. At the time of writing, it has raised $3,964 from 107 donations.

The description of the fundraiser read:

“Daveigh Chase, my girlfriend, has always been a light in my life. Many people know her as a talented childhood actor from ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ ‘Spirited Away,’ and ‘Donnie Darko.’ But behind the scenes, she’s faced more than her share of hardship.”

The GoFundMe’s cover image showed Daveigh Chase giving a peck to Roy Hernandez. He continued:

“After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown LA. When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope.”

It remains unclear how and when Chase met Hernandez, but they were reportedly homeless together in the Skid Row community in Los Angeles, California.

Exploring further about Daveigh Chase’s GoFundMe and her alleged boyfriend

Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Daveigh Chase was hospitalized for malnutrition following a period of extensive weight loss. However, her condition soon became critical and she was diagnosed with meningitis.

Roy Hernandez, who announced the actress’ death on Wednesday via the same outlet, wrote on the fundraiser:

“Recently, everything changed. Daveigh was diagnosed with meningitis and several serious blood infections. Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left. All she ever wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe, and be happy. Now, more than ever, I want to give her that sense of home and peace in her final days.”

He continued:

“I understand we all go through things, but if you can help, I will be really grateful for anything. And if you can only give a prayer, I will take that too. Thank you for considering helping us during this difficult time.”

It is noteworthy that Daveigh Chase’s longtime manager, John Ryan, raised suspicions about Roy Hernandez while speaking to the California Post on Wednesday.

“Apparently, a man claiming to be her ‘boyfriend’ that none of us friends or her family has heard of has set up a GoFundMe on ‘her and her family’s behalf’ that he set her up as the organizer. I can confirm Daveigh has a trust account set up at SAG to cover all costs.”

Ryan also confirmed that in the months leading up to her untimely demise, Daveigh Chase went missing and was later spotted in Skid Row, the homeless community in Los Angeles. In fact, he and Chase’s stepsister, Gaia Brown, hired a private investigator to track her down, while her friends also made attempts to locate her.

Meanwhile, late last year, a disturbing video surfaced online showing the Lilo & Stitch alum looking sickly as she lay on the floor of what appeared to be a tent or an RV trailer. Daveigh was seen with exposed skin and bones. Rumors about substance abuse also arose. The video was later taken down but has now resurfaced amid reports of her death.

It remains unclear how the Ring star ended up homeless. Celebrity Net Worth cites her estimated net worth at $3 million as of this week.

Daveigh Chase passed away on Tuesday from septic shock and multiple organ failure caused by meningitis and severe systemic bloodstream infections at a Los Angeles hospital. She was 35. Tributes are now pouring in for her.
