Christmas will cost me £7K because of how many kids I have

A COUPLE who share 18 children together have revealed just how expensive life can be.

Desiree and Christopher, from the US, revealed that Christmas alone would be setting them back over £7,000.

Speaking to Truly, Christopher confessed they spend an eye-watering £7,000 each December, as Desiree added: “Christmas is fun – but it’s work.”

But that’s not all, the pair also spend a massive amount on groceries every week.

“I spend between $250 – $500 every shopping trip. Usually, I go once a week, if not more,” Desiree said.

In the interview, the pair revealed they got married after just 28 days of meeting in person, and now share 18 children.

Christopher had eight children from a previous relationship while Desiree had three, and together they had seven children.

While they do love having a massive family, they say cruel trolls are quick to hit out at them.

The mum revealed: “People are upset that we’re having more children and overpopulating the world.”

“That’s kind of like, ‘hang on a minute – we’re not raising people with entitlement issues, we’re raising people who are going to put into society and into the world.’

Christopher added: “There’s a huge misconception. I think that they believe it’s chaos.

“When they see a big family, they think, ‘oh my God, that must be chaotic, that must be so much work.’

“It is work, obviously, but I think any family is work so it’s a matter of where you put that work in and how efficient that machine runs.”

While the pair have seen lots of negativity thrown their way, they say nothing can change their mind about having a big family, despite both agreeing they don’t want any more kids.

“What I love most about raising a huge family is really the end goal – we’re raising people,” Desiree said.

The YouTube clip went viral with over 22k views and many took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “Having this many kids is incredibly disgusting and selfish.”

Another commented: “This is nice and fun. You did well to have many kids, they are a blessing.”

“When a family is a whole classroom,” penned a third.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “Once you can’t remember your child’s name, that’s too many children.”

“It doesn’t bother me as long as you can afford it,” claimed a fifth.
