Mystikal’s previous charges and prison terms explored after rapper receives 20-year prison sentence in r*pe case

On June 16, TMZ reported that Mystikal received a 20-year prison sentence in his ongoing r*pe case. The rapper was sent to prison after admitting to raping a woman. The victim shared how the musician violently s*xually assaulted her in his Louisiana home in 2022. She asked the judge for the maximum sentence, as reported by WBRZ.

This isn’t the first time Mystikal faced charges and a prison sentence. The Tarantula rapper has faced other s*xual assault charges in previous years. Here’s the list of legal troubles:

  • 2003: The rapper faced his first sexual assault case, being charged with aggravated rape and extortion for forcing his hairstylist into sexual acts with him and his bodyguards. The incident was captured on video. He admitted to sexual battery and was sentenced to six years in prison. He was released in 2010.
  • 2012: The rapper was arrested for a domestic abuse incident, which broke his probation terms. He spent an extra three months in jail.
  • 2017: He was charged with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping after an incident at a Shreveport casino during his concert tour. He spent 18 months in jail before he could get out on bond. In 2020, a second grand jury did not indict him because of new evidence, and all charges were dropped.
  • 2022–2026: The latest verdict landed him two decades of prison sentence. He was originally arrested in July 2022 after a woman’s complaint.

More about Mystikal’s latest prison sentence

After being arrested in 2022, the rapper pleaded guilty to third-degree r*pe in a Louisiana courtroom last month as part of an agreement with the prosecutors.

As reported by WBRZ, the victim described how the accused rapper hit her, choked her, pulled out her braids, and r*ped her against her will. After she finished speaking, he was given the opportunity to address the court. He attempted to speak to the victim, but was only permitted to make his statement to the judge. Mystikal said:

“If I did that to you, I deserve the max sentence.”

In March, Tyler’s sentence was limited to 20 years after he agreed to a plea deal. He was initially charged with first-degree r*pe, which could have resulted in a life sentence, but he pleaded guilty to a less severe charge.
