Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 trailer has been released recently, and it shows Christopher Pike (played by Anson Mount) as he leads the USS Enterprise on a new mission. This time, however, they will be facing certain challenges and creatures that are one of a kind.

While the trailer doesn’t give away too much, it has some glaring spoilers that one may not have paid much attention to. Here is the spoiler drop for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 you never thought you needed.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 Spoilers: Spock’s and Kirk’s growing bond

Anyone who has watched Star Trek: The Original Series, or is a fan of the franchise, knows that Spock and James T. Kirk are best friends, more like brothers. In the Original Series, Kirk is the captain of the Enterprise, and audiences know that the story of Strange New Worlds will head there eventually. However, the show is set to have another season after season 4, and thus there’s quite some time to set up Kirk as captain.

But, as the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 trailer reveals, we will see more of Kirk in the upcoming season. In the first three seasons of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Kirk (played by Paul Wesley) has been more of a visitor than an active member of the Enterprise. But the trailer for Season 4 begins with Spock (Ethan Peck) telling Kirk,

“I have many things I want to talk about. Hopes, dreams, fears. I believe you are here so I can share them with you.”

We see Kirk’s reply to Spock at the very end of the trailer, as he says:

“Don’t worry, Spock: I’m sure one day you’ll get to aim that logical mind of yours at some lucky captain.”

There are several takeaways from this. Firstly, we can see that Spock will have more conversations with Kirk, and we’ll finally get to see how they built their strong friendship. It also shows that Spock is gradually embracing his human side and is not as embarrassed or reluctant to do so. This is also a sign that he’s opening up emotionally, something we haven’t seen Spock do much.

Kirk is also present in other scenes of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 trailer. In one scene, when it seems that the Enterprise and the crew are in danger, he tells Spock:

“Let’s save this ship and our friends.”

Kirk is also gradually going to become a more solid member of the Enterprise, and not just a visitor. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 is thus going to build up Kirk’s character for captaincy and show how Spock and Kirk eventually become the best friends we know them to be. Moreover, Kirk telling Spock that he’ll one day get to discuss every logical thought with a lucky captain is a great way to tease the fact that it is Kirk who becomes the lucky captain.

The Enterprise crew will face dinosaurs and dragons

As the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 reveals, the upcoming season will feature creatures that so far seem to be dinosaurs and dragons. In the trailer we see La’an firing a phaser into the mouth of a dinosaur, and in another scene, we also get to see a T-Rex-like creature.

Moreover, the trailer also shows a giant winged dragon breathing fire at the Enterprise. Whether it’s an actual dragon, an alien species, or some dimensional anomaly is yet to be revealed, but there’s most likely going to be an episode dedicated to it. There are also scenes where the crew is horseback riding on a new planet, which suggests that there might be an episode with a Western setting.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 will premiere on Paramount+ on July 23, 2026. The season will have 10 episodes which will be released weekly on Thursdays until September 24, 2026.
