The Bold and the Beautiful is doing what it has done before — mixing promotion with production. Members of the half-hour international hit series are currently abroad for the Monte Carlo TV Festival. Showrunner Bradley Bell is there, too, and he has revealed which actors from the show will also be shooting scenes overseas that will air as part of an upcoming storyline!
When in Monte Carlo
While cast members Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Kimberlin Brown (Sheila), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), Thorsten Kaye (Ridge), and Finn (Tanner Novlan) were taking part in some publicity efforts, Bell chatted with filmfestivals.com about the show’s plans to shoot on location while abroad.
“We’re going to shoot here! We’re very excited,” Bell shared about shooting in Monte Carlo. “It’s a secret story, but I can tell you that it involves Steffy and Sheila, all these actors here, Ridge and Brooke. and Finn. There’s something that happens that changes their life forever. I can’t reveal it, but it’s going to be good!”
B&B will be shooting in the morning at the beach, and in the afternoon, at a church. “It’s happy, and then something amazing happens,” Bell teases. The showrunner shared his enthusiasm for B&B turning 40 years old next year, having debuted in 1987.
The interviewer brought up that Bell succeeded his father, late B&B co-creator William J. Bell, and how Sheila came over to B&B from Y&R. “Sheila was such a big hit on The Young and the Restless,” Bell recalled. “We needed someone over on The Bold and the Beautiful to bring some trouble, and we knew Sheila was the one. It was an amazing crossover. When she came aboard, the ratings went crazy.”
The showrunner adds with a wink, “Everybody likes a little Sheila in their life.”
“Good girls go to heaven — bad girls [go] everywhere,” the interviewer recounted to Bell what she had said to Kimberlin Brown in an earlier interview.
“It’s unbelievable that she’s killed many people, done so many awful things, and yet the audience still loves and supports her,” Bell says of Sheila’s enduring legacy. “[Kimberlin] is an amazing actress.
“We’ve been here many times, maybe 10 or 12 times,” Bell said about attending the Monte Carlo Television Festival. “The festival is wonderful. It’s always a great time. It’s always wonderful. We’re always meeting new people and television shows.”
A Bridge Never Too Far
Last year, while abroad, Ridge rescued Brooke after she’d fallen off a boat being driven by Nick (Jack Wagner). While Ridge had reunited with Taylor (Rebecca Budig), the shock of nearly losing Brooke in a horrible drowning accident acted as a catalyst, prompting Ridge to realize what — and, more importantly, who — he wanted. And that person was Brooke!
In 2024, Ridge looked through the famous Aventine Keyhole in Rome and spied Brooke. That also prompted Ridge to realize that his beloved Logan was Ridge’s true destiny.
Ridge and Brooke are getting along fine these days. Although there’s no telling what will happen once Brooke discovers that Hope (Annika Noelle) has jumped ship to go to Logan Designs. Will Brooke blame Ridge for this? And if she does, will Monte Carlo be the perfect place for a reunion? Stay tuned!
